Today Chelsea held an open training session at Stamford Bridge in front of 8,000 fans who came to watch Carlo Ancelotti's first training session and the great news is that Joe Cole, Paulo Ferriera, Yuri Zhirkov and Juliano Belletti all returned to full training for the first time. This is fantastic news for all blues fans and goes to show how strong our squad currently is and will be once every single player is fit and raring to go. Its been a long hard journey for Joe Cole who suffered a setback just as he was due to return to full training.
Also its big news for Paulo Ferriera who has missed most of last season and has been promised by Carlo Ancelotti that he does have a future in his Chelsea. I still rate Paulo and still think he can be a key player for us this season. He can be cover for Ashley Cole when needed and can be there to fight Jose Bosingwa for this starting place. I still stand by the fact that i will never know or understand why Jose dropped Paulo after we won the title the second season out of two?.
Its also good news for Zhirkov that he is back in training so he can get back to full fitness and show the Chelsea fans what he can do. Its been reported that in the training game that took place at the Bridge today that Zhirkov featured playing in front of Ashley Cole with Malouda tucked inside the midfield. This is something that could be interesting!.
Also crowd-favourite Juliano Belletti is back in contention. Ever reliable and a favourite with all of us with bolster the competition for places in the squad. He can cover at the back and in midfield so its another bonus for Ancelotti as slowly the jigsaw that is the Chelsea squad comes together!
