So the video above confirms the draw as it happened and I have to say what a great draw to begin with. John Terry had just collected his award for Uefa Club Defender of the year and then drew the 2nd seeded teams from the pot and first out was Porto and straight into Chelsea's group! What a result compared to some of the nightmares that we could of been faced with!. Then Athletico Madrid and Apoel were drawn out of the pots and into our group and I am happy with that.
Its not a group of death but at the same time it ain't a simple group either. I mean we have plenty of previous with Porto and should do well against them in the two group games which of course will be of extra importance to Deco and Bosingwa.
Athletico Madrid will be an interesting proposition because of all the talk about Aguero over the summer. Along with Forlan up front they pose a dangerous threat to Chelsea and the Vicente Calderon stadium with be an interesting experience with the hostile atmosphere it produces. But we are Chelsea and you have to say we have the experience and the know how to deal with all that!.
Then there is Apoel FC and I have to say probably like alot of you I don't really know alot about them but, this is the Champions League and they must not be under-estimated. That's the thing with the Champions League, to get this far they must have something about them so let's wait and see how we get on.
One thing is for sure these days which is alot different from a few season's back and that is that Chelsea are now a team that people want to avoid. 5 semi-finals out of 6 seasons in the competition and you have to say that we do look strong enough compared to the other sides in the group to come through this stage without any real major worries.
