Ribery - Chelsea's formal offer - Why?

One of the newspapers in the UK has reported today online to say that Bayern Munich have received only one formal offer for Ribery and thats been submitted by Chelsea.

You have to ask the question why and the player himself has already been quoted and expressing his desire to leave Munich and head over to the new Galatico's at Madrid. He has said that its apparently "Madrid or nothing" so I can't see the point in following this one up.

Granted, Ribery is a great talent in the game and one of Europe's hottest properties but why would you now want to pay excessive amounts of money for a player that doesn't want to play for you as his preferred choice?.

I have previously posted before on my blog "Whats wrong with Chelsea?" and I still stand by every word. But, if a player doesn't want to come why continue to chase him?.

aside from the Real issue, we don't need any more left sided players. we have apparently all but sealed the Zhirkov deal so if Ribery were to arrive, which i would love, we'd have to ship Malouda off.
