So here we are. We are two days away from the FA Cup final and the excitement is building!. Its the game to bring the curtain down on the season and what a season we have had. We have finished the season strong and Saturday is our chance to put the icing on the cake and give Guus Hiddink the sendoff he truly deserves.
But, standing in our way is a resolute and determined Everton side. This season its been no easy ride against them and we have drawn both games. The are well organised and take alot of breaking down. They also have players who can have a big difference in the game and we need to make sure that we are at our best to bring the FA Cup back to the Bridge.
But, I believe that we now since Guus has taken over are a totally different proposition for any side that needs to face us. We are far more organised, we are hungry and even more so after the Barcelona game and we have goals in us everywhere. Of course i am biased but I do only see one winner on Saturday and that's Chelsea. It may take us a while to grind them down but I believe we will and will win by a single goal 1-0.
Alex will come back into the back four and play next to John Terry. Ashley Cole fresh from scoring last weekend his first goal of the season & on the back of his Players Player award last week will be up and down that left wing like his old days at Arsenal. Bosingwa will start again on Saturday and he will be doing the same down the right hand side.
Its more or less a nailed on that Drogba will start though the middle but the question remains who will start in midfield. Lampard is certain to come back into the side after being rested for the Sunderland game (which I still think is strange bearing in mind Lampards hunger to play every single game) and Essien will start as he has been a feature under Hiddink since he has been at the club. But who will start between Ballack and Mikel?. Ballack seems to of slipped out of favour with Hiddink since the Barcelona game as he still found himself on the bench last week and Belletti getting the nod in front of him.
Mikel has been outstanding for me and is maturing as a player as the games come and go and he seems to of got rid of that careless streak that saw him sent off a couple of times playing the holding role. He has been assured and has brought stability to the side which frees Lampard and Essien to get forward. If Ballack plays will he play the holding role or will it be Essien? This is one tough decision for Hiddink to make but its like the saying "big games call for big name players" and believe that Ballack will get the nod to start.
Anelka and Malouda are more or less assured to start the game on opposing flanks and will no doubt have a major influence on the game. Malouda is on fire lately and links up really well with Ashley Cole down the left and Anelka is always a goal threat and has also set up his fair share of important goals this season. I have also noticed in the last couple of games that Anelka drifts in from the left into the middle during games and Drogba drifts out wide left which causes the opposition problems.
I just feel overall we are too strong for Everton, Like i keep saying it will take time to break them down. If we can keep Tim Cahill quiet then its half the job done for me.Let's hope i am right, and lets bring the cup back to the Bridge. Carefree everyone and come on the Chels!!
