Tomorrow at 3pm at the Bridge, Chelsea take on Fulham in the Premier League. With our minds now focused back on track to the Premier League and our chase of the top two, its vitally important that we come into the game prepared, in the right frame of mind and ready to take three points at home.
Chelsea come into the game off of a good defensive performance in mid-week against Barcelona even (in my opinion) though we were not as much of an attacking force as I expected. Fulham come to the Bridge seventh in the Premier League and flying high at the moment.
Chelsea will need to be up for the game tomorrow as Fulham will be a tight, well-organised and determined unit to break down but i am confident that we will do it tomorrow.
We need to be up and at it from the first whistle to the last as we all know they will be. This is our local derby and this is the games both sets of supporters look forward to.
I can see some players that weren't involved coming into the starting eleven tomorrow with the 2nd leg against Barcelona in mind on Wednesday. Last week Guus rang the changes and brought in the likes of Mancienne, Belletti, Anelka and Kalou and he may do the same again.
I can for see the likes of Essien and Drogba being rested once more tomorrow with Mikel playing the holding role and Anelka coming in for Drogba. I can also see Kalou coming in to play wide right with Malouda wide left with Ashley Cole brought back in the side behind Malouda. One thing is for sure we have great strength in depth at a very important time in the season. This will be key for us for the run in.
The main dangers for Fulham will come from their midfield for me. Danny Murphy is another one with time and space can kill you if he has the chance to pop the ball around the pitch. But put under pressure its a different story. We can't forget the effect Clint Dempsey had on the game last time with his two "soft" goals against us and he will be looking for the same again.
But, back then this was a different Chelsea under Scolari compared to the Chelsea under Guus. We are much more organised, we are more attacking and at times our football is free flowing. I think this is key tomorrow with our main man being the difference tomorrow and that's Frank Lampard.
Now Frank did not have the best of games on Tuesday night at Barcelona and anyone who watched the game would have to agree and to his credit he came off when substituted early in the second half with no problems. He knew it was to maintain our level of defensive performance and knew he wasn't getting alot of the ball in the game.
Tomorrow will be different. I can see Frank having licence to push forward again and get into the game against Fulham with Ballack and Mikel sitting deep to cover him. Frank will be motivated to put the Barcelona performance behind him and that is bad news for Fulham. If Frank gets on the ball early tomorrow and gets his passing game going then i can only see bad things for Fulham.
It would be nice to get a couple of goals up and rest some more players and give others like Mancienne and Di Santo another go but this Fulham lot are stubborn and well organised.
Let's hope we get the three points tomorrow and keep the pressure on the other two above us. At this stage of the season a Frank Lampard goal 1-0 will be great and will keep us happy!
