The major talking point apart from Ancelotti seems to be Didier Drogba and the news that the big wigs at Chelsea have taken Drogba's post match antics as the final straw. Its seems that Anelka was the one being lined up for a summer exit but his goals this season and his form have persuaded the club to keep him with Didier the one who seems to be that's out the door. Its rumoured that Drogba favours a move to Italy and its not secret that Jose would love to bring him to the San Siro. I don't know about you but i think its time for Drogba to move on.
He has been (at times) a great servant for the club and has been a major factor in the successes we have had in recent times but its seems to be one thing after another with him at the moment. You never know what Didier Drogba you are going to get when you turn up to watch a game. If he is on it and up for it he is arguably the best in the world. He is unplayable and can make even the best two centre halves have nightmares in games. But the problem for all of us is when he isn't up for a game he is a liability.
In recent years we have heard how he never really wanted to sign for the club, how unhappy he is at Chelsea etc etc. The Champions League final and his red card was another example. In the biggest club football match on the greatest stage he let his side and us down. Yes it would of been a different story if JT had scored the penalty but my argument is that it could of been a different story with Didier on the pitch for the whole game.
We will all find out soon enough the punishment that UEFA will hand out to Drogba and possibly Chelsea soon enough. As fans we all looked at Drogba after the game with Barcelona and thought like i did that its good to see that he cares enough about the game, about our team. But for me in recent times i can't honestly say hand on heart that he is like that all the time and that's why i think its time to say a big thank you for the success he has been a part of but its time to go.
So if Didier is out the door the rumour is that Arsene Wenger wants to offload Adebayor and Chelsea are interested. I can see him as an ideal replacement for Drogba. He can play as the lone man upfront or with a partner and Anelka could be the ideal foil for him. He is strong, can hold up the ball and score spectacular goals. The only issue i have is why would Wenger offload him? Maybe its because of his performances against Man Utd in the two legs of the semi finals. He went missing in those games so maybe his head isn't right at Arsenal.
Remember last summer the rumour was that AC Milan would come in for him and he would be on his way. I like the way he plays when he is on form, he brings people into the game and would link up with Lampard really well. I remember his performance at the Bridge a when we drew 1-1 when Essien scored that screamer from 30 yards. Adebayor gave JT a real tough time of it and led the line well. So if Didier goes, Adebayor would be ideal for me as his replacement.
Who would you want to see come in if Didier is shown the door?
