After the euphoria in the last few days its now time to focus on what i believe to me a "massive" game for Chelsea tomorrow. In the recent past Bolton at home has proven to be a difficult game and they have come away from the Bridge with a few draws which has put a dent to our title hopes in the past couple of seasons. But, we are on a run of being unbeaten in the last 7 home games and they haven't won in their last 7 away games so on paper this should be an easy three points tomorrow but we all know it probably won't be.
The question is how will Guus set the team out tomorrow. Will Carvalho and Deco come in or will he keep the same side. Will he rest players with Tuesday's second leg in mind or will he look to take the game to Bolton early, grab a few goals and then take people off? Who knows? What do you think the team should be? Comment now.
In my opinion there are two key players for Bolton that we have to keep quiet.
Key player 1: Kevin Davies. Davies in my own opinion is very underrated. He is like a modern day Mark Hughes but doesn't really get the credit that he deserves. He is a strong target man and does a great job for Bolton. Granted at times when he doesn't get the service he struggles to get into the game but when he does receive the service he can create all kinds of problems. He tends to play either down the middle or slightly to the right cutting inside from goal kicks.
Solution to the problem: John Terry. In my book this is another one for John Terry purely and simply as he plays on JT's side of the two centre backs.
JT well and truly knows when he has been in a game with Kevin Davies and these are two no holds barred, physical English battlers and this one will be key tomorrow. If JT can keep him quiet and win his headers against him this will more or less force Davies to come deeper to get the ball and he will be smothered by our dominant Midfield.
Key player 2: Matthew Taylor.
This guy became known to all of us when he was at Portsmouth. He played as a left wing back in their 5 man Defence and created and scored a lot of goals for Pompey and then seemed to drift out of favour. He made the move to Bolton and has been somewhat of a revelation there. He has scored loads of goals this season and creates chances too. He plays more in the midfield for Bolton and we have to keep him quiet. I think though, he will struggle to get the same possession and space against out midfield tomorrow and will find himself chasing back more than he does coming forward. If we keep him quiet and force him on the back foot then job done once more.
Our key Man : Frank Lampard
Well all you can say is that he seems to enjoy playing Bolton and I wonder why that is :-). Seriously though Frank is back to his best and in recent weeks as become a much more dominant force that the opposition have to contend with. He is loving his freedom under Guus Hiddink and will look to get on the ball and create and score when he can. They have to be able to cope with him tomorrow. If they can't then Frank will have another great day!
Here is our goal in last seasons 1-1 draw at the bridge (Sheva's last goal)
