Match report - Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

Last Saturday Chelsea booked their place in the FA Cup Final on 30th May after beating Arsenal 2-1 at Wembley. It was a midfield battle on Saturday with to be honest, not alot of chances but Chelsea struck in the 83rd minute through Didier Drogba after Walcott had put the Gunners in front and Malouda had equalised in the first half. Key match incidents are as follows:

Chelsea start as follows: Cech, Ivanovic, Alex, Terry, Cole. Ballack, Lampard & Essien. Anelka, Malouda & Drogba.

Arsenal start the better of the two sides and get into their passing game early. Chelsea not really started as yet.

3rd Min. Terry plays a long ball towards Arsenals box, Silverstre hesitates as Fabianski comes rushing out from his area, he doesn't get there as Drogba beats him to it, ball heading towards goal cleared from 3 yards by Gibbs. Pitch is showing signs of cutting up already!

15th Min. Denilson gives ball away inside left to Ballack, he feeds Drogba left hand side of box cross saved by Fabianski.

17th Min. GOAL ARSENAL WALCOTT. Chelsea sitting back now, Fabregas has time and space and plays wide left to Adebayor who is faced by Ivanovic. He holds up ball and plays in Gibbs who is running towards the byline, Anelka slow to react to his run. He crosses to back post and Walcott cuts in from the right and hits a left foot volley towards goal. Hits Ashley Cole on the hand a deflection beats Cech. 1-0 Arsenal. Cech no chance.



21st min Lampard plays in Cole down left hand channel, he wins ball with a sliding challenge into Malouda left edge of box, he takes his man on and fires a cross-shot under Fabianski wide. Hiddink is now out in his technical area.

22nd min. Lampard nicks ball from Fabregas and hits one from 25 yards low but easy for Fabianski.

24th min.. Diaby beats Ballack down the line on the left carries ball to edge of box and plays square to V.Persie whos mishits his shot on half volley, easy for Cech.

25th min. Lampard beats Toure & plays into on rushing Drogba 25 yards out who hits first time well over the bar.

32nd min. GOAL CHELSEA MALOUDA. Lampard gets ball just over half way line right of centre, looks up and plays a 40 yard cross field ball to Malouda whos first touch is fantastic. Second touch inside on his right foot and fires a shot into Fabianski's bottom right corner who has no chance. 1-1.



36th min. Chelsea pressure. Ball into box won by Denilson who plays ball back inside box to Diaby, Malouda reads it and nicks ball off of him. Anelka picks up the ball and hits it left footed. Fabianski beaten but hits post and bounces out to safety.

37th min. Ivanovic booked for a lunge at V.Persie. Silly tackle!

43rd min. Chelsea possesion half way inside Arsenal half, Lampard cuts inside his man 25 yards out and the on rushing Essien takes the ball off of his foot and hits it first time but its easy for Fabianski.

46th min. Ivanovic takes thrown in down Chelsea right 20 yards from byline. Drogba flicks on and Anelka rises, beats his man but again header easy for Fabianski.

Half time 1-1.

2nd Half no changes for either side.

Again Chelsea start off slow and Arsenal control most of the possession earlier on.

47th min. Diaby crosses from right, half cleared by Alex falls to Adebayor left corner of box and he shots high over the bar.

58th min. Arsenal possesion, one touch passing feeds Adebayor just outside box, he feeds Walcott who fires a cross hard and low to back post for on rushing V.Persie who at full stretch can't get there and goes out for a throw.

65th min. Walcott played in down right AGAIN, skips past Terry. He fires in cross half cleared again & falls to V.Persie in identical position as Adebayor earlier in the half and he does same, fires over the bar. 20 minutes into second half now and Arsenal are well on top. Chelsea not got started in this half yet.

68th min. Lampard into Drogba and he plays ball back into Lampard edge of box waist height. The on rushing Lampard does well to get a volley in but goes 3 yards wide!.

70th min. Ballack long ball wide to Malouda who's cross is blocked and bounces back out to Malouda who hits a hopeful volley well wide.

74th min. Arshavin on for the non-existant V.Persie.

81st min. Kalou on for Anelka and Bedtner on for Adebayor (strange one that!)

83rd min. GOAL CHELSEA DROGBA. Long ball from Fabianski comes to Cole who beats Walcott to the ball and plays ball hard and high into Essien who does really well to chest the ball down to Lampard under pressure. Lampard hits the ball over the top on the volley. Drogba's off like a flash with Silvestre putting him under pressure who then see's Fabianski coming out of his box. Silvestre hesitates as Fabianski makes a challenge. Drogba is onto it first and flicks it past the keeper and slots it into an empty net!.



85th min. Ball into Arsenal box half cleared and Essien volleys one high over the bar.

85th min. Nasri on for Denilson.

90th min. Bedtner beats Cole down the right and gets to byline and crosses, comes to Arshavin who takes a touch and fires a shot hard and low blocked by Alex for a corner.
From resulting corner cross comes in and Cech wins it with a great punch but ball finds its way back out to wing, cross comes in again and again Cech wins a brilliant punch and takes out Drogba, Toure and Silvestre in the process. Excellent from Cech.

94th min. Whistle blows Chelsea win 2-1. CHELSEA IN FA CUP FINAL !!!
