British Press this morning

There are a few things of note that have been reported in the British Press this morning. Firstly its been reported that Guss Hiddink has stated that the "Treble" is still a possibility for Chelsea this season.

He said " In February we had to make sure we qualified for the Champions League but you cannot just be satisfied with that being such a big club. We have the attitude in the club, even in training sessions, that we want to win. The league is very serious for us. As long as its possible for us, then we will go on".

Chelsea are already through to the final of the FA Cup and Semi Finals of the Champions League against Barcelona. At this moment in time for us Chelsea Fans anything is possible. I am delighted with Guus and everything about him. From the way he has got the boys playing, his press conferences and the way he speaks about the players. If anyone can pull it off it can be Guus. I know that at the moment it's only a slight possibility, but its still possible and we need to believe.

Mancienne up against Messi?

Guus Hiddink has also acknowledged that it is a possibility that Michael Mancienne will play as Chelsea's left back next week for the first leg against Barcelona. Mancienne has pace to burn and could be a the one to stick on Messi and do a job. But i am not 100% totally behind this one. Don't get me wrong Mancienne is a star of the future BIGTIME for Chelsea but do we really want to expose him against, In my eyes, the best player in the world right now?

Moyes states Hiddink's Chelsea Influence is "Overblown"

Everton manager David Moyes has been reported as saying yesterday that Guus Hiddink's influence at Chelsea has been somewhat overblown. He said:

"Have Chelsea not got one of the best squads in the division?" he said.

"You would expect those players to be where they are.

"The manager has to take credit for that. But I think it is more to do with the group of players, they have a strong squad and they are the ones that have to cross the white line and do the job."

Moyes still has deep respect for Hiddink, and added: "I've called him on several occasions for information on Russian players and he was very good in giving that to me. His record in Europe is very good."

I have to say that i agree on this to a point. It is down the to players when the cross the line to deliver the goods game in, game out. Also yes i agree with the quality we have in our squad and we should always be there or there abouts every season but, i still believe that the manager still has to get the best out of the players. Jose did it and now Guus is doing the same where Scolari failed.

Wilkins describes Cole as "Best in the world"

Ray Wilkins has heaped praise on Ashley Cole before tonight's match against Everton which will be his 42nd game of the season. He said to Chelsea TV " He has been magnificent for us. I have not seen a better left back in the world. He works his socks off". I must admit its taken a while for Ash to show the same consistency for us as he did the Arsenal but he is definatley looking the part now in a Chelsea Shirt. His second half performance for us in the Semi Final on Saturday was fantastic. Its a shame and a worry that he won't be facing Messi at the Nou Camp next week.

Cole can't believe Lampard snubbed in PFA Honours

Ashley Cole has stated on the official website Chelseafc.com that he can't believe Lampard is not amongst the best six players in the Premier League nominated for the PFA player of the year awards. He said

"I think every Chelsea player and fan would agree that for us he has definitely been our best player. From what I have seen of the Premier League he is definitely among the top six players," Cole told chelseafc.com.

"He has been brilliant this season, and since I have come here he has been our best player. He has been amazingly consistent with his energy, his leadership his passing and most of all his goals, 20 a season, he is the complete midfielder. I think he deserves a PFA nomination, definitely." I totally agree with this one and think its scandalous that five United players are nominated including Edwin Van De Sar!!?? Thats a joke in my opinion.
