So it has been 36 hours since we beat Liverpool 7-5 on aggregate after a spectacular 4-4 draw at the Bridge on Tuesday night. I don't know about the rest of you but i still felt kinda shocked and in disbelief from the game and what happened all day yesterday. But let's just take stock for a second and put this into perspective.
We beat Liverpool and put seven goals past them in two games. That is not easy at all for a side that is like us, fighting for the Premier League title. They have been the in-form side of late and to knock them out is fantastic. I don't think any of us expected to win the way we did at Anfield. No of us expected the game that we did the other night but we showed great character, determination and fight to get back into the game and get through. For that part i am proud of our boys.
The worrying thing is about our defending the other night. I think with JT there playing they wouldn't of scored 4 but we will never know. The free-kick is just one of those things. Petr Cech has even come and said he took one step to the right expecting the cross and put himself out of position. The second goal was a stupid one to give away, but in a funny kind of way will give Ivanovic a shock and he will now realise he can't do what he did again. The third goal was a deflection and Cech had no chance. The fourth goal should of been defended better as Kuyt walked across our back four to head in from six yards.
At the moment in the papers in the UK Petr Cech is getting alot of coverage as they have described him as having a lack of confidence and even Guus Hiddink has come out and said the same. Do we agree really? Yes against Bolton he had a shocker and looked all over the place and he fumbled a couple of crosses against Liverpool but how many goals on Tuesday night we really his fault? I would say the first one was his error and that's about it.
Just remember, we will learn from our mistakes under Guus. We will kick on now and we look forward to another titanic battle with Barcelona. The main thing to remember is we knocked em out!
