Preview v Spurs
This Saturday See's the Blues travel to White Hart Lane for our 1500GMT kick off with Spurs.
Both teams go into the game with two completely different motivations. We are pushing for the win to keep the pressure up on Man Utd and also Liverpool whilst Spurs are still looking over their shoulders at the teams fighting relegation and want the points to ensure relative safety next season.
We come into the game on what has to be the best run of the season so far under Guus Hiddink we are unbeaten in 5 Premier League games (4 wins and 1 draw) Our last defeat was against you know who at Anfield after the shocking decision to send Lampard off turned the game.
Confidence is high and the team playing well. The run we have put together has been impressive because in the majority of the games we have kept clean sheets, won the games and have dominated possession. Added to this with Carvalho back, Essien back and playing well and Drogba getting close to form again it all bodes well for the Blue Boys!
Spurs come into the game on the back of 5 games unbeaten in the Premier League (3 wins and 2 draws) their last defeat was away at Bolton on the 31st Jan.
Their confidence will be up after last weekends win against Villa. The difference is at the moment they do not seem to have a settled side. The forward line varies from one week to another and the defence seems the same. From speaking to a Fan this week at work Zokora played right back last week. So the weakness is there. One thing in their favour is the Robbie Keane factor. In my opinion when he is on form he is a class act. As long as we keep him quiet i think we will do well.
My own opinion is that we will be too strong for Spurs. Under Guus we have maintained stability, established the team spirit and kept more or less the same side apart from one or two. With a complete weeks rest for the players and preparation i think we will be too strong.
The reason i say this is i don't really think Harry Redknapp knows what his best team is. Harry being Harry is having a look at everyone at his disposal and has done this season since he came in, a massive clear out will happen in the summer, but for now, because of the rotation issues and not knowing who his best players are and his best 11, it can only lead to a Chelsea win at 3-point-lane for me!
