Hi everybody.
So it's Arsenal next in the semi final of the FA Cup at Wembley at 1730 on Saturday 18th April (On Setanta Sports).
Shame really the game is at Wembley as i am a firm believer in only the final being played there. Don't get me wrong i know its a great day out for the fans and its something you can say later on in life that you have been to. But, like i say i would rather say i have been there to watch the FA CUP FINAL rather than the Semi.
The other argument would be, "Where would you stage the Semi Final?" which is a fair point. I guess its a better option than to have to travel all the way up to the likes of Villa Park again as we did for our game a few years back with Fulham.
One thing is for sure, it will be a full house and a much more contested game that the other shown on Sunday. Both teams are one game away from the final and will be more determined than ever to go through.
The situation has changed somewhat for Arsene Wenger with the FA CUP being only one of two possibilities for silverware this season. For someone renowned for playing youngsters/reserves in cup games it was a whole different story last night against Hull and you have to say for an hour it was Squeaky bum time for them last night. Of course in the Semi Final i can only see him going one way and playing the big guns from the off.
Arsenal will be confident after their recent win against us at home in the Premier League. But, alot of things have changed since then. Scolari has gone, the belief is back, team spirit, fight and hunger just like in the Jose Mourinho days. We are a different animal at the moment and it doesn't seem as though anyone is able to tame us.
Arsenal again proved last night that they have weaknesses at the back. Due to injuries they are reliant upon Diaby who isn't in the same class of Lampard and Essien so let's see if Fabregas will be back, if so how match fit will he be. But to be honest i ain't bothered about who starts for Arsenal.
In Drogba on form, hungry and scoring goals we have possibly the best centre forward in the league if not the world. When he is up for it and on fire no one can stop him. Arsenal (at full strength) rely on two centre halves that can't stand each other but play next to each other and thats only good news for us.
Their midfield as i say is weak and has no comparison to the strength, creativity and drive of Lampard, Essien and Ballack (when he is on his game) so i can only see a win win situation for us.
Just remember, there is alot of football to play between now and then. Lets hope we are able to continue our recent revival and take it into the Semi Final.
