Having been linked with total nonsense of late in the press, Chelsea have finally been linked with a move to bring in a top-class, ex-Premier League striker to provide competition to Alvaro Morata.
You can forget your Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch for that matter, Roma's Eden Dzeko is the name that we are being linked with in a potential double deal that will also see us sign left wing-back Emerson Palmieri before the end of the transfer window, with Michy Batshuayi moving the other way.
In my opinion that is great news and Edin Dzeko would prove to be fantastic signing having been given a chance to prove what he could do in Serie A. Since he signed for the club, Dzeko has played 116 games in all competitions and has scored 61 goals which is more than a goal every two games.
We all know him from his days at Manchester City of course and have been linked with a move for him previously around the time he was due to move. That never happened for whatever reason but that does matter, it's what happens now that is important.
SkySports Transfer Centre also confirmed the news last night with reports that Chelsea were prepared to offer €50m for the two players and as you can see, Roma asking for €65 to get the deal done.
I've had my say on Emerson Palmieri on here in a previous post with a potential fee of €20 being touted to sign him, €45 for Dzeko would be costly but I am sure that Chelsea's powers of persuasion could get this double-deal done for around €50-€55m.
You would imagine that Edin Dzeko would feel that he still had something to prove in the Premier League with the way things worked out for him at Manchester City. He never managed to get a regular start in the side but generally did well when he was involved. He made 189 appearances in all competitions scoring 72 goals which again is a good record. I just wonder if given the opportunity to come back but this time to Chelsea would appeal to him?
He is strong, good in the air, has excellent feet and can score goals as we can see. He would be in my view the perfect alternative to Alvaro Morata. What do you think?
