Chelsea's reported transfer target Andy Carroll has been struck down by injury which puts an end to our "reported" interest only to discover from somewhere that we have now expressed an "interest" in Peter Crouch!
It's fair to say that Chelsea fans have been put through it these past couple of weeks. Three 0-0 draws in-a-row, two hours of FA Cup football in the cold on Wednesday night which wasn't much better against Norwich City only relying on penalties to beat them, whilst knowing that at any point an official announcement would be made welcoming Andy Carroll to our Football Club! You ask yourselves "could it get any worse?".
So to all of our surprise it actually did with reports coming to light from god knows where, that Chelsea "had registered their interest" in Peter Crouch. It's got to be bollocks it really has I thought to myself as I read through my social media feeds (my Facebook and Twitter btw) only to find the general consensus of opinion being the same as mine - what has Chelsea come to? What the hell are they doing? Thankfully, last night, Stoke have confirmed that they have received NO enquiry for Crouch from Chelsea or any transfer bid with earlier reports stating that a £10m bid had been lodged by Chelsea and subsequently rejected.
I have nothing against Peter Crouch personally at all and I am sure that plenty of you will know that he is actually a Chelsea fan and has (not sure if still) a season ticket at Stamford Bridge with family. However, the possibility of him coming here to actually take to the pitch to do a certain job for us just makes a mockery of the likes of us trying to persuade Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois to sign new extended contracts.
I am almost certain 100% that there is no substance in these reports whatsoever. Someone has taken the Andy Carroll rumour, received news that he is out injured for a month which puts an end to the Chelsea move, then thought to themselves who else is there in the Premier League who is good in the air, tall and can go a certain type of job for a football team looking to just lump the ball into the box? I know Peter Crouch!
The Carroll rumour was bad enough but one that just in case of any substance in the rumours, I had put a post together to try and identify what he could offer Chelsea. I refuse to do that with Crouch.
Besides, check out my next post, I am really hoping that there IS real substance in that report that we are looking at a far better alternative to both of them for Chelsea.
