With the transfer window open and plenty of speculation surrounding Chelsea and the players they are to bring into the club and allow to leave being talked about daily, one Chelsea star has revealed that he is close to signing a new extended deal to stay here - Thibaut Courtois.
After his fantastic performance at The Emirates on Wednesday night, Thibaut Courtois has re-iterated the fact that he is one of the best Goalkeepers in the world and news that a deal is close to extending his time here is great news for us.
As discussed on numerous times on this site, the future of Courtois has been up in the air for what seems like every single transfer window since he came back to the club from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid. This has only be heightened by the fact that he has an ex-girlfriend who is the mother of his child and they remain based on Spain with constant reports linking him with a move back to the Spanish capital with Real Madrid. There has been one report this week stating that the Spanish side have made Courtois a number one target.
So to news of the new contract and there has been some real encouragement with the quote has has given to the media recently. Talking of a possible new contract for Eden Hazard in addition to his reported deal worth £200,00 per week he said:
"We will wait a few weeks and then sit around the table - I'm happy at Chelsea and a deal is close.
Has it been a distraction? Not for me. I'm just calm and relaxed because I'm tied to Chelsea. Despite the rumours and everything, I am focused on Chelsea and I'm happy here.
“He (Hazard) will say, 'If you sign, I will sign' and I say the same to him. I think we are both happy at Chelsea, we both have a good part to play. We have been champions twice in the four seasons I have been here and can have our peak years together at Chelsea.” - Source: The Telegraph.
If Chelsea are to build on the excellent foundations that have been put in place by Antonio Conte already which does include reducing the average age of our squad, then our best players MUST be signed up to extended new contracts.
For any club looking to be successful you need a solid core through the spine of your side starting with the Goalkeeper, in defence, through midfield and to our attack. Thibaut Courtois signing a new contract is just the start as the club looks to strengthen to prepare for a realistic challenge for the title again next season.
It,s about £180 a week to much....or is it because Real have just signed a new-keeper.as you all know I don,t like the whinger whose a legend in his own-mind...
ReplyDeleteAs you all know I,ve never been a fan of this player and it,s about £180 to much a week for him,or could the real reason for his latest-post be that RM are looking/have signed another keeper...he,s good but not great,a legend in his own mind.
