According to various sources, David Luiz has held clear the air talks with Antonio Conte to try and resolve their internal dispute which has seen Luiz fall out of favour.
In my view this is good news because the sooner they can clear the air, the more options the manager will have to select from in the busy Christmas/New Year period as soon as Luiz is fully fit. However, there is a kicker to all this, the same report states that Luiz has demanded more game time as he is determined to win his place back in the Chelsea side.
The same reports also state that Luiz is more than willing to look for a move elsewhere if he remains frozen out by Antonio Conte this season with the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Bayern Munich all monitoring the current situation.
It has been such a fall from grace for Luiz as I have stated on here before and fair play to Andreas Christensen for stepping up and taking the opportunity he has been given with both hands by the way.
As for Luiz, you cannot try and undermine the manager in front of other players by criticising his tactics or team selection. You then cannot publicly row and argue with the manager whilst ON THE PITCH so it was obvious that he would be punished by Antonio Conte because let's face it, he has nothing to prove after what he achieved last season and, it's clear that he has taken the approach of stamping down any signs of player power in the dressing room as we have seen with Diego Costa and now David Luiz.
Luiz for me was beginning to show signs of lack of focus and discipline in his defensive position compared to last season. Last year he was impeccable, determined, hungry to succeed and became on of the best defenders in the Premier League. He swept up everything, made important tackles and interceptions by staying in his position. This season, he has stepped out of position, has lost his head at times like he used to and has not shown the levels of discipline the manager expects from his players.
Right now it is going to take something big to force the manager to put him back into the starting eleven when he is ready. All of us are more than intrigued to see how this plays out for the remainder of the season.
Domestic cups and/or move on. Not as good a defender as Christensen, Rudiger or Azpilicueta. Best suited to the bench alongside Cahill.
