Chelsea’s attacking play maker Eden Hazard, the most talented player within our ranks has rejected a
new extended contract and if we are honest is to be expected.
There has been so much
press coverage of the news within the last 24-48 hours as the players father
has spoken out suggesting that the Belgian is holding out to see what happens
this summer in the hope that Real Madrid confirm their intention to sign him.
Now I’ve stated that
these reports are as expected but it’s been made clear throughout the last
couple of season that Eden Hazard idolises Zinedine Zidane the current Real
Madrid manager (I say that loosely at this stage as his team’s form and
performances are nowhere near the standards they expect in addition to losing
3-0 to Barcelona at home recently) as his footballing hero.
According to various
that have featured in the media for what seems like the past three years, Real
Madrid have also monitored the players progress and have earmarked the outstanding talent as a future Galatico.
Now is it me or does it
seem that Chelsea offer Eden Hazard a new contract every year? OK, throughout
his time here not as often as that but surely in recent seasons it’s been the
case.
Eden Hazard remains our
highest earner at the club and rightly so as it’s clear on his day he remains
the most exciting player in the Premier League. He is tied down to a Chelsea
contract for the next few years and has spoken of being happy here
whilst acknowledging that Real Madrid are a side he would like to play for in
the future.
I see no reason to
panic at this stage because of two reasons. First and foremost he remains our
player until at least the end of the season. Real Madrid will not be interested
in trying to get the deal done in January as the player would be cup-tied for
the Champions League. Besides that, Chelsea would be foolish to even
contemplate such an agreement at this stage of the season.
Secondly, with the length
of his current contract taken into consideration in addition to his healthy
wage packet, Chelsea if approached by Real Madrid would demand a British
transfer record fee to allow him to leave which would be re-invested in another
outstanding talent without question.
The most important
thing to remember here is that players come and go but the Football Club always
remains, no-one no matter if they are management or players should be bigger
than the club and everyone has their price.
We live in hope that
Zidane blows it, gets sacked and leaves Madrid then maybe, just maybe Eden
Hazard will stay.
