Antonio Conte has given up on Michy Batshuayi and has identified two Premier League strikers that he would like Chelsea to sign in January as he looks to bolster his attacking options.
Now this is according to various press reports after the fallout from the defeat to Crystal Palace, our second in a row and third of the season so far on Saturday.
I had written yesterday that it was time for Tammy and that Chelsea must try and do what they can to get him back to Stamford Bridge in January by recalling from his loan move. However, it seems as though this is not possible as no arrangement has been inserted in the loan contract signed in the summer. As a result, the press have decided that the manager has virtually given up on the Batman and is now looking to bring in a replacement in the January window.
The two players that have (reportedly) been identified are Christian Benteke and Jamie Vardy which is not the first time that either of them have been linked with Chelsea. The report states that they would have to come to Chelsea to play as Alvaro Morata's understudy with the impressive Spaniard firmly established as Chelsea's number one since he arrived in the summer.
It's that point for me that firmly establishes this report as pure fabrication in my view. Why on earth would either of them want to leave their clubs when we can all agree, they are the number one, to then come to Chelsea and settle for a place on the bench?
Don't get me wrong here, both are good players and would bring very different qualities to Chelsea if there was real substance to the reports. Based on our style of play in my view Christian Benteke would be the better option as we play with a focal point up front which I have talked about in the last 24 hours. Chelsea look to play off of a main striker but also expect the striker to create his own opportunities.
I personally do not believe the reports that the manager has given up on Michy Batshuayi either. As I keep saying the Belgian needs a run of games which looks like being extended to tomorrow against Roma with Alvaro Morata being named on the bench (according to speculation on social media). The only way he will be able to get up to speed with what is being asked of him is to play regularly and get used to the players around him. It's one thing doing that in training but in a match is totally different. He just needs continued exposure to improve.
If Alvaro Morata keeps himself fit between now and the end of the season, the apparent understudy will hard feature anyway.
Sorry but I have to say this is rubbish in my view with no substance. What do you people think?
Forgive me CD but it patently-obvious that Conte does,nt trust Michy and has,nt done for some time now and it,s why he wanted Llorente in,I,ve said before that we paid a lot of money for this guy on whose advice we can only guess,he does,nt fit the bill for the type of striker CFC play with, and have done for a number of years, now whether some ;unknown person; thought that we were going to change a tried/tested system of how we play,I don,t know,I do know that we,ve played this way for a good number of years and under different managers and it seems to work,Michy might well be a good/fitt in another team but not with us,,the way we are set up just does,nt allow us to suddenly switch over, in any given game our system to play to suit someone like Michy,we could of course go the way of Man,City goalscorers all over the place,in which case Michy would most probably get into double/figures,but I don,t see that happening any time soon do you.
