After his excellent start at Chelsea, Alvaro Morata's progress has come to a shuddering halt with news that he has a grade two tear in his hamstring and will out for six weeks. It's now make or break for Michy Batshuayi.
There were plenty of raised eyebrows around Stamford Bridge on Saturday night as Alvaro Morata was replaced by Willian in the first half of our defeat against Manchester City. Many people see it as a massive kick in the teeth for the Belgian who seemed to be overlooked for such an important game until late on when he was introduced to try and make a difference.
The flip side to the argument is that Chelsea had conceded possession of the ball and City were dominant. Antonio Conte introduced Willian for his pace and along with Eden Hazard, play a pressing game to condense the midfield at the same time which subsequently never happened!
If we are honest, all of us are not 100% certain that Antonio Conte rates Michy Batshuayi highly and the next six weeks will prove whether he is, or he isn't in my eyes. Surely now is the time to give him regular first team football which will benefit everyone as he gets used to playing with his team mates to know when to make a run, when to hold the ball and when to give it early.
Our run over the next few weeks isn't too bad at all if you take a look at the fixtures below:
14.10.17 - Crystal Palace (A) - Premier League
18.10.17 - Roma (H) - Champions League
21.10.17 - Watford (H) - Premier League
25.10.17 - Everton (H) - League Cup
28.10.17 - Bournemouth (A) - Premier League
31.10.17 - Roma (A) - Champions League
05.11.17 - Manchester United (H) - Premier League
18.11.17 - West Brom (A) - Premier League
22.11.17 - Qarabag FK (A) - Champions League.
Obviously, the Roma and Manchester United games at home are massive and are must win for us. The "Batman" has a chance to play against Palace before Roma and then four consecutive games ahead of United at home.
Michy Batshuayi has done nothing wrong since he arrived at Chelsea. When called upon he scores goals and despite calls for a third striker with Batshuayi dropping to our third choice as a result, given a good run, I have every confidence that he will score goals because of the chances we create in games.
OK, his movement needs to improve and his overall play but that will only come with game time, playing regularly with his team mates and with the confidence of the manager. Surely he will get that now from Antonio Conte when we need him more than ever?
For Chelsea to start any of these games with a false-nine formation leaving Batshuayi on the bench would be a massive indication that he does not have the trust of the manager.
Let's see what happens!
CD,It,s been blatantly obvious that Conte does,nt trust MB as the main striker,Chelsea have for some years played a target/man up front,Costa/Drogba etc someone who can hold the ball up, and MB just does,nt fit this criteria,he,s more the poacher/type striker and he,s good at doing that,it,s why Conte went after the Swansea striker Liorente,so again when an injury occurs we are caught out over something that the Manager had already forseen, but the;; same old usual suspects ;; took no notice again of the Managers requirements.
ReplyDeletestarting with false 9 in this formation is wrong , we all know this ... we also know batman isnt going to be the first choice for the coach....we should have got a third striker like LLorente now ... but too late to do anything about it ,,,IN Conte WE trust! and hope for the best !!
