Victor Moses has been a revelation for Antonio Conte's Chelsea team as a Wing Back. The 25-year old has revealed just how much he is enjoying his new role.
It's fair to say that Moses has not had things easy since he signed for Chelsea back in 2012 from Wigan. Moses spent that first year in and around the team making 23 appearances for the club and things looked promising for him, however that all changed and he spent the following three seasons out on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City and then last season at West Ham. Despite signing an extension to his Chelsea contract before he joined West Ham last summer, the Chelsea fans couldn't quite work out where Moses could eventually fit into the team.
That has all changed with the arrival of Antonio Conte and the tactical switch made after defeat at Arsenal. Victor Moses has been drafted into the side as a Wing Back down the right and has played a huge part in the dramatic turnaround in Chelsea's fortunes so far. Five wins on the spin, five clean sheets, sixteen goals scored and Moses having helped himself to two of those playing his new role, could not ask for more of an impact after three years!
Speaking of late about his new role in the team and his willingness to do exactly what Antonio Conte asks of him, Moses revealed just how much he is enjoying his football. He said:
'I have not played there before but I have just got to listen to what the manager asks me to do in that position, and the way he wants me to do it.
Every game we play I just want to keep on improving. The more games you play, the more experience you get in that position. I'm really relishing it at the moment and enjoying it.
It's very important to understand your team-mates. I have got Cesar Azpilicueta there, the spare right-back, who is behind me, and he communicates with me and really helps me out to make sure I am in the right position.
Defensively we all work as a unit in training and every day in training the manager is on top of us to make sure we are solid. He's also very helpful on the touchline. He talks to you to make sure you're in the right position.
I'm feeling happy, I'm feeling excited and right now I'm looking forward to every game.' Source: Daily Mail.
You have to hand it to Moses for his attitude, adaptability and his determination to succeed at Chelsea. It can never be easy to have to leave the club, relocate (for at least two of his loan moves) and to settle into a new team knowing you are only there for a season, away from your parent club.
Moses has always impressed me virtually every single pre-season tour for the last three years and in my view has been our best player. Being honest, I couldn't understand how if I could see how well he was playing, why the Manager couldn't do the same?
Hopefully for Moses that is well and truly in the past now as he has clearly taken an opportunity given to him by Conte with both hands and has been outstanding. What has impressed me about him is his defensive ability. As he said, he has Cesar Azpilicueta talking him through games in addition to Conte on the sidelines so he continues to learn as each game passes.
Everyone in that Chelsea team is playing really, really well at the moment and we look to have found the perfect blend of defensive stability and attacking threat. Victor Moses has proven to be pivotal in both areas of the pitch and long may it continue!
