Roy Keane is making headlines once again with his outspoken view, this time on Eden Hazard. I just wanted to gauge the opinions of Chelsea fans reading this post as to whether you agree or not.
Eden Hazard hasn't been anything like the player he became last season which can be said of plenty of the Chelsea players, but Eden Hazard was a vital part of our success with his performances, his goals but most importantly his influence. He was someone who could make a real difference when we needed it most, so much so, he was being talked about as someone to challenge Messi and Ronaldo as one of the worlds best in the years to come.
So to this season and focusing on the recent weeks compared to others who have raised their game. It's my view that we have only seen glimpses of what he is capable of and that is not good enough. Just look at Willian for example and the levels of consistency he has shown throughout the course of the season but in the big, big games!
Now we know that Hazard has talked of his admiration for his idol Zidane but to talk on the eve of the biggest game of our season so far, bearing in mind our plight in the Premier League, of the fact that it "Would be hard to say No to PSG" is totally unacceptable and would explain the blog post I published on the day of the game telling him to "Keep quiet and do your talking on the pitch!"
So to Roy Keane. Speaking on ITV's Champions League highlight show last night when asked of Hazard he said:
I personally think he is spot on and to the point. I agree 100% with everything he has said about the new contract which is worth a reported £200,000 per week and the fact that the senior players should hold of him and remind him of his responsibility in a Chelsea shirt as one of our top earners.
Maybe it's the fact that we do not have enough senior players who command respect the likes of Cech, Drogba and Lampard did, that's the problem. Only JT remains and his is in a contract dispute and at odds with the club himself!
I think we all know he will leave in the summer and I sincerely hope that Chelsea get the maximum for him if he does. For now, he needs to deliver the levels of performance expected in the last three months or so and especially in the biggest games!
What do you people think? Do you agree with Roy Keane?
