According to reports, Didier Drogba is in negotiations with Montreal Impact to cancel the remainder of his contract and to retire from football with immediate effect. He will then rejoin Chelsea as Assistant Manager/Coach (this is yet to be confirmed).
It's no secret that Guus Hiddink AND Roman Abramovich want him here in a coaching capacity and both believe that with the influence he has in the dressing room, he could really help Hiddink take Chelsea from where they are back up the Premier League table.
Drogba is 37 now and has made his mark in Canada scoring plenty of goals for fun but has always stated that he would like to come back to Chelsea, back "home" as he calls it after he decided to hang up his boots.
The reports state that Drogba has started negotiations with Impact and an agreement should happen sooner rather than later.
The man himself took to Social Media to respond to the reports circulating tonight and said:
Lovely to receive these messages but I have not yet announced my retirement & am still in discussion with @impactmontreal about my future.

So there you have it. Drogba has more or less admitted that it's something he is considering and I would expect this to be resolved within days. Drogba could even feature on the Chelsea bench alongside Guus Hiddink for the Scunthorpe game on Sunday.
What do you think of Drogba as a Coach/Assistant Manager?
