With the January transfer window fast approaching, rumours are rife that Chelsea are prepared to sell Diego Costa. Would you sell him?
Two goals in sixteen games this season so far and looking a shadow of the goal machine he was last season, there are all sorts of rumours doing the rounds at the moment.
From Costa to not being settled and looking for a return back to Atletico (with Diego Simeone keen to take him back I might add!), to looking to go back to anyone else in Spain, to becoming frustrated with life at Chelsea, it's all difficult to hear with the general consensus being that most of it has no substance at all.
However, for anyone that follows the Blues up and down the country and abroad in the Champions League, they will have to admit that something is wrong or at least not right with the Spanish striker.
The movement off the ball is laboured at best, when he does make the run it's either too late or not often enough and as a result our attacking threat has suffered this term.
You see the likes of Hazard, Fabregas, Oscar and Willian pick the ball up in midfield, lift their heads up to see that run into the box from Costa and it's just not there anymore.
I am 100% certain that he still has it in him but he MUST work harder in games because our play is suffering as a result with the ball being moved sideways more often than being played forward.
Cesc Fabregas said this week:
'The striker is the most important player on the pitch. Sometimes, 80 per cent of the time, he is important as he scores the goals.
At the end of the day in football, you can play well, defend well, but it is about scoring goals, about scoring one more goal.'
That has been our problem all season so far. We haven't had a striker that is scoring regularly enough which is why in another post I have called in Falcao to be given a run of games now instead!
So what would you do with Costa? Of course there is some time between now and the end of the window and surely enough time for all the players to raise their game and improve.
Will Diego Costa get back to being the force he was last season or is it time to sell? What would you do?
For me I support chelsea sending him back to Spain immediately if a replacement is found. Apart from his goal scoring ability the guy is going to cause us more problem off and on the pitch. He is just too problematic, I hate seeing him fighting or want to create scene on the pitch every time and that has made me dislike him a lot.
