Chelsea have received plenty of stick of late and in particular Cesc Fabregas. Portrayed as a bad influence in the Chelsea dressing room, Cesc has hit back at his critics!
Fabregas is one of the majority of Chelsea players who has suffered a dip in form this season compared to last and the collective find themselves languishing near the bottom of the Premier League.
Having already defended himself on his Twitter account recently, Fabregas has hit back once again as these reports still persist that he is a so-called "bad egg" in the dressing room.
Fabregas said:
"If you play well you are the first to have the finger pointed at you when things are going badly. When things go well you are the best and when things go wrong you are finished, you are useless.
Those of us who have been most criticised are Hazard, Diego Costa and myself, but you get used to it.
Obviously the results are not as favourable as we would want but our level of play is not as bad as the results suggest.
I am feeling good in the midst of all this but clearly when the results are not there in football everything is negative and you see everything in a bad light. But I am still confident in this group and this team and I am sure we will be able to improve things.
Someone invented a story saying that I was leaking information from the changing room. I have dignity and I had to defend myself. My relationship with Mourinho is good, as always. I don’t think Mou will be sacked. The coach trusts us and we trust him. We all have to work together to come out of this bad spell.
The level of play at Chelsea does not correspond with the results, but I’m certain that we will improve.”
I personally do not believe that Fabregas is the type that would look to start trouble, it just does not seem to be in his nature. I am pleased he has come out and defended himself previously and again for the record with these quotes.
I agree with him to a point that we have been playing better of late but results have not gone our way. Eventually, our luck will change and the results will improve.
I also like the fact that he acknowledges that Costa, Fabregas himself and Hazard are the most criticised because they were three of our most important players last season. We need all three back on song and quickly.
I don't think any of us will ever understand what has gone wrong here or what the real reasons are for our drastic change of fortunes but to have as many players simply not performing anywhere near the standards they had set themselves last season is virtually unheard of!
Let's hope that Cesc and the rest of the players can turn it around and quickly!
Fabregas, like David Luiz, is a quality footballer but IMO they also share that they cause more problems for the opposition (and less for us) when played further forward.
ReplyDeleteHeaven knows Cesc can certainly pick a pass but I believe he's being hampered by the indifferent performances in general of other key forwards like Costa and Hazard.
No way should he be played in the pivot but put him in the attacking areas with 'on song' forwards and I'm sure we'd see his assists soar again.
