Speaking after Chelsea's excellent second half fightback against Leicester City last night, Gary Neville has hit back at those who have labelled Chelsea as boring and encourages people to have a pop at all our rivals instead!
Boring, Boring Chelsea is what has been labelled at Chelsea over recent weeks because we have set our stall out against the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal and they have failed to beat us.
As I have said many times, Football is a results business now more than ever with the money involved in the game and that's why after we had the succession of managers we had recently, Roman Abramovich brought back the man who delivers trophies.
So to last night and Chelsea fans were chanting "Boring, Boring Chelsea" after Ramires scored our stunning third goal in response to the coverage we have had to put up with. When asked of his opinion and the fact that Chelsea were obviously being sarcastic, Neville responded by saying:
“I don’t get it at all.
If we’re criticising anybody it should be the pathetic attempt at chasing them this season and putting up a fight.
I have to say Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have got to do so much better next season. The last team that we should be criticising are Chelsea. They are the ones that have gone on and done the job.
They have extended their lead tonight, they are by far in front and they have been by far the best team this season. They haven’t lost a game since New Year’s Day.
It’s the other teams that should really be criticised. This Chelsea team have done everything you ask of what will be the champion team.”Spot on in my opinion. Why criticise us after the manager looked at our weaknesses last summer, got the deals done early for the players he needed in key areas (and sold off a few to make a PROFIT) and has taken the team forward from there?
Neville is right. It's now up to everybody else to take the fight to Chelsea. We sit thirteen points clear at the top of the league and is a clear indication of just how far we have come and how the others have taken a backwards step. The only club you could really say have improved is Arsenal who I believe will finish second which is a step forward.
As for the others and for the haters out there, you can call us what you like. I call it winning football!
