As we approach the January transfer window, the Chelsea rumour mill has started up again and a reported featured in the Daily Express suggests that Chelsea are looking to sign Gareth Bale in the summer!
According to the article here - Bale does not feature in the new Real Madrid formation and the recent performances of Isco have seen Bale slip down the pecking order there. It's worth noting that Bale had recently missed some games through injury which had given Isco a regular start.
Having scored 28 goals in 59 appearances for Madrid since he signed for the Spanish side, Bale's return has been excellent including a goal in the Champions League final last season.
So what of the link to Chelsea? Is this something that is total rubbish or is there any substance in the report?
Personally, I cannot see it happening because I still feel that he has a future in Spain. Having paid out a world record transfer fee, I couldn't imagine Madrid would want to get rid of him after only two seasons and besides, they would want to recoup the majority of the money they paid Tottenham for him in the first place!
Bale is an immense talent and I am sure if he was to become available, a whole host of clubs would be interested. However, with the constraints of financial fair play to consider, someone would have to ensure that they would be able to balance their books to afford such an outlay. In turn, that would mean two or even three players being sold which would make the squad unbalanced in my view.
As I said, we are yet to see if there is any real substance in these reports because as we know, Agents get involved, looking to get the most for their clients and themselves.
Isn't it strange that with reports that Bale doesn't fit into Carlo Ancelotti's new formation, Bale is being linked with a move away!
It's rubbish if you ask me!
