Jose Mourinho has revealed that he intends to keep BOTH Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois at the club this season and whoever doesn't start will NOT be sold.
Chelsea fans around the world have heard the news of Courtois impending arrival at Stamford Bridge and have immediately questioned the situation with Petr Cech at the club.
The press would have you believe that Cech will be sold before the close of the window as Courtois has been promised the start for the new season but the manager has denied that will be the case.
Speaking recently, Jose Mourinho said:
“My situation for the season is fantastic. To have Cech and Courtois means we have the best young goalkeeper in the world and one of the top-three or five most experienced keepers.
For me and Chelsea, it’s perfect. Maybe one of them won’t be happy but the Chelsea supporters will be happy and they’re more important than players.
Of course, the window is the window, but I’m so happy with the situation. If we don’t have good players, we’re in trouble. I’m paid to make decisions and I’m really happy with the situation.”
It's a clear message from the manager to both of them ahead of the season. No one player is bigger than the other and the club and it's supporters are the most important.
I am more than happy to have both of them fight it out for the duration of the season and I am sure that the majority of the supporters will be. However, I cannot help but think that as the season moves forward, one of them will become increasingly unhappy and it will be interesting to see how the manager deals with the situation.
The positive for me in all this is as Mourinho says, we have the best young Goalkeeper in the world and one of the best and most experienced.
It's taken almost ten years but finally we have realistic, direct competition with Petr Cech and it couldn't come any better than Courtois.
What's your opinions on the battle ahead this season?
