Fernando Torres' Chelsea future is always up for debate and this morning it has taken another twist with Corriere dello Sport reporting that Inter Milan are looking to secure a season long loan for the Spaniard with a view to signing him on a permanent deal for just £10m this time next year!
Be prepared Chelsea fans for the next few weeks. It's going to be complete madness with players being linked to moves in and out of Chelsea. Some of them will have substance and some of them will be total fabrication as agents look to line their pockets after a long hard season!
As for these reports on Torres? Your guess is as good as mine being honest with it seeming more and more likely that he would be involved as part of any potential deal for Diego Costa. As I have said before, he has always stated that he wants to finish his career at his home town club.
I am surprised that Inter Milan are looking to sign him in addition to Mikel this summer. My first reaction to the story was bollocks really. To think that Chelsea would loan out their record signing would be unthinkable really. If they are looking to offload him, they would want to try and recoup some of their outlay based on the situation with FFP in football now.
However, these reports also state that Torres is on wages of around £5m per season at Chelsea and the club would be hard pushed to find someone that would be willing to pay that kind of salary, let alone a potential fee! Corriere dello Sport has indicated that Inter would be willing to pay Torres £3m per year.
We have seen Chelsea use the loan system more than any other club of late and especially with first team players deemed surplus to requirements for the season but do we honestly believe that Fernando Torres could be one of those players next year?
What do you people think about all this and the latest Torres reports? Do you believe that Chelsea would ever entertain the idea of loaning him out, selling him in the summer or using him as a makeweight in a potential deal for Costa? Or, do you think he has a chance to stay here next season under the manager with Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o being the ones to leave?
One thing is for sure, expect all sorts of stories and speculation about Fernando Torres until the transfer window closes at the end of August!
Let's hope he finishes the season on a high on Sunday with a couple of goals!
