When Cesc Fabregas gave his post match interview after Barcelona had beaten Manchester City, he took a swipe at Jose Mourinho. If anything, it proves that the influence of Mourinho is as big as ever!
I wrote a post the other week that people should "never under estimate the influence of Jose Mourinho" and Fabregas has proven my point.
Here's his post match interview:
It's clear that the reference to "People talking abit to much and they have to shut up for a few days" is a direct reference to comments made by Jose Mourinho before the match. In fact Fabregas also spoke to the written press after the game and said:
"He should talk about Chelsea and their tie. I don’t think he should talk about anything else. It is not in his business."
All Jose did was state that compared to the Barcelona under Pep Guardiola, this is not the same team we have seen in recent seasons. What's wrong about that?
Without question, it has been a HUGE couple of weeks for Jose Mourinho. He has managed to rattle Arsene Wenger, Manuel Pellegrini and now Barcelona with his comments. If ever he needed reassurance that he can still influence people off the pitch, it's been there for all to see.
We are at the business end of the season with games coming thick and fast. It's a time for experience, a time for calm and a time to get the club together with that backs to the wall mentality Jose installed here when he first came in 2004.
If we can manage to do that, keep together and the players concentrate purely on their football, we will leave the manager to continue to make comments to rattle people and take centre stage.
When Jose talks, everybody listens!
