Eden Hazard has taken his football to a new level this season under Jose Mourinho and he is being compared to the likes of Cristano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Although some way off those two, Hazard believes he is right up there with the best of them right now.
Speaking to BBC's Football Focus in an interview due to be aired tomorrow, Hazard said:
"These players are the best on the planet," he said of Barcelona's Messi and Real Madrid's Ronaldo. They score one, two, three goals every game. It's something you've got to aim for - to get to their level.
To get to their level, it's a case of working hard every day in training, enjoying myself and expressing myself as much as I can on the football field.
I'd probably say I'm up there with some of the best, but we've got to realise there are lots and lots of good players in the world.
What I would like to do is shed the adjective 'young' because that would mean I've crossed that barrier and gone one step further in my career."
Hazard in recent weeks really has stepped up his game and has become almost unplayable. I was reading that on Monday night against Manchester City, Hazard attempted SIXTEEN dribbles in the game - no other player managed more than just SIX.
Hazard has become the first name on the team sheet and I dread to think what we would be like without him in the game at the moment.
There are plenty things going right for Chelsea at the moment and Eden Hazard continues to make a massive contribution to that.
If as he says, he can do it on a regular and consistent basis, then I see no reason why he couldn't justifiably be compared to Messi and Ronaldo!
