It's the report that none of the Chelsea fans around the world wanted to read this morning. As expected and in light of his current situation at Chelsea, Juan Mata is the subject of a reported £37m bid from Manchester United!
It's being reported all over the place but also in The Telegraph so expect there to be some substance to this one!.
Around the web this morning from various news sources, it's also being reported that Chelsea are holding out for £40m and have named that as the price that they would be willing to sell the player!
I cannot believe that we are reading something like this happening. Chelsea's player of the year for the past two seasons running. Who would have thought it would come to this at the beginning of the current season?
Chelsea fans know too well that money talks and with the World Cup in Rio looming ever closer, first team football in Manchester could be an option he would like to consider to revive his season and his chances of making the plane to Rio!
Jose Mourinho has said time and time again that he is part of his plans and both he and the club do not want Juan Mata to leave. However, in recent weeks, we have seen Mata named on the bench and sit there playing no part in our games. How can any of us forget his last appearance in a Chelsea shirt at Southampton and his reaction to being withdrawn early into the second half!
As much as I love Juan Mata and the fantastic ability he has (I still believe he has the best first touch of a football I have ever seen!), it's time for all of us to accept reality.
Chelsea have a massive decision to make here, £37m is a lot of money and do they accept the bid that is £3m short of their reported price or do they hold out for more?
I still believe that Chelsea will want Wayne Rooney to be involved in one way or the other with perhaps an agreement being reached with United, giving Chelsea first refusal if he decides to leave but I can't see him being involved in a swap deal at this stage of the season.
I sincerely hope that Juan Mata turns the move down and re-affirms his intentions to stay here and to continue to fight for his place in the team but the longer it goes on with him being the opposite, I am having to face up to the fact that he could now leave to join Manchester United.
What do you people think of the Juan Mata situation, the reported bid being made by Manchester United, How you think he could improve David Moyes' side and if you believe that he would go?
Would it be a disaster for Chelsea if he left?
Carefree & KTBFFH!
Mata has been a great player for us so far, but if you want a truly great TEAM then you need players who work hard in attack and in defence. Just look at Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben last season for Bayern Munich, they both started putting shifts in for the TEAM and that's why they won everything as everyone worked hard with and without the ball. £37m would be a great sale but I'd hold out for £20-25m plus Wayne Rooney, again he's someone who works hard in attack and defense and is the proven Premier League goalscorer we need to win the title this season.
ReplyDeleteI feel like crying.. Mata Noooooooooooo. With his treatment by JM I guess it's inevitable that he may need to leave to gain regular playing time for World cup selection. But how quickly everybody forgets the QUALITY of JUAN MATA... Has CFC lost their bloody minds? Loan him out to Atletico for the rest of the season so he gets game play I rekon and maybe JM will see the the game changing qualities he has and bring him back next season for re-evaluation... Please STAY Juan. You're too good to be with any other team but Chelsea. Fullstop!
ReplyDeleteWhy Not loan Mata to united for rest of the season and involve him in the I swap deal in summer if united agree to sell rooney. if we don't get rooney we would be strengthening our direct rivals next season.
ReplyDeleteMind games again? You lot that blab on about Rooney need to separate your fantasy football whims from reality. Mourinho is back, he has a squad to use, he decides (not the press nor some self elected "30 year" supporter who confuses blogging with journalism),
ReplyDelete40 million is a lot of money I think it's now very clear that Mata doesn't feature in the way Chelsea is playing at the moment. I would take the money and replace him with Julian Draxler he is a perfect feat for us and in my opinions has the stature to play in the league. I know a lot of you will not agree to this but as a fomer professional footballer myself I thought mata struggled big time when when we play big games especially when we don't have possession of the ball. I told my friends way before Mourinho came back now they are calling me a genius. I trust how Mourinho is approaching the rebuilding process. Mata lacks defensive abilities speed and stamina to influence the big matches. Just a reminder, look at his perfomances against city, bayern in champions league final, juventas, even against pressing teams he needs more space. Having said that Mata will be a great addition if he finds the right team he can be a top player. I personally think he suits arsenal style more than man United's. So I would happily take 40 million and buy draxler asp . Mark my words Traore is going to be a big player for chelsea sooner than later. My name is Jimmy jimmalo so remember this name.
ReplyDeletePlease god don't sell him to united ... Surely Jose isn't that stupid hold out till the summer and sell him abroad
ReplyDeleteWhat crazy scenario... I still believe that Mata's big mistake this season was to come back late from the holidays after being hardly involved in the Confederations Cup. He should have bite the bullet and come early as everybody else and train hard, show interest despite being our best player last season... NOW, what to do next? hard to say... I would like him to stay and put up with the pressure and have a fresh start EARLY in preseason next season. Maybe the solution is a loan elsewhere for what's left of this one. Spain would be a great chance, however, a crazy idea, loan to United who is not against us anymore for the title, but with Mata on board can still put up a fight and get Arsenal and City down and give us a hand...crazy, but who knows...
ReplyDeleteI think if we sell Mata, it will come back to bite us every season as Mata will become a key figure for Manu. We know his quality and if he goes he will be a success.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand , if we got 40 Million and put a 50 million offer on Diego Costa , i think that would be good business.
Gooner here, I can't believe that Chelsea would even consider selling Mata. I for one will love to have him at Arsenal (even if we seem to have so many players in his position). I don't think he'll be a good fit for Man Utd. They don't play with a Number 10.
ReplyDeleteI laugh when I hear all the talk about Mata not putting in a defensive shift. I think that putting in a defensive shift is overrated.
The way I see it, Mourinho should be able to accommodate a gifted player in his system. It's not like if you had a Messi or a Ronaldo you wouldn't put them in the team, instead you'll build your system to play to their strengths while not losing your defensive shape.
Mata (while not in that class) is good enough for that. I agree that Oscar probably does what Mata can do and also what Mourinho wants hence the reason he is playing in that position now.
But I know for a fact that AW would find a way to accommodate Mata in our team. If we had him, forget all this talk of Arsenal needing a striker, WE WILL WIN THE LEAGUE THIS SEASON
It will be a total mistake if Mata is sold and even to Man United. We will be strengthening our rival. That is insane.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why Jose is treating him this way. Mata will be the first player on other coaches team list. Best player for two season and Jose sees him as not capable of playing week in week out, this is insane. I hope the club can keep him and find a way for Jose to start using him once again.
Look united would not sell to Us.
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell would chelsea sell to strengthen Them.
Dose not make any Sense,
Mourinho should Tell - United what they told Us,,, NO!
