Over the weekend, Chelsea have been linked with a £7m move for Robert Lewandowski and £35m for Wayne Rooney as Jose Mourinho looks for a new striker.
According to this report in the Express, Robert Lewandowski will become the subject of intense speculation within the January transfer window as it's believed that Borussia Dortmund do not want to see the striker join their rivals Bayern Munich.
The same report states that Dortmund have offered Lewandowski to Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal for a reduced fee of just £7m to try and earn some money out of him rather than see him run down his contract and walk away in the summer.
If this is true, then he would be a fantastic option for Jose Mourinho and for Chelsea as it's believed that Demba Ba will be allowed to leave in the same window.
The second report that has resurfaced over the weekend focuses on Jose Mourinho's pursuit of Wayne Rooney. Featured here, The Mirror has reported that Jose will make another move in January and is prepared to offer £35m to United.
It's no secret that Mourinho wanted Rooney. The player remained quiet all summer and if anything, is back to somewhere near his best for United.
Rooney has openly admitted that he became frustrated last season having missed out on important games and often being played out of position under Sir Alex Ferguson. Since then, Fergie's book has come out and he re-iterates Rooney's desire to leave United.
Being honest, I cannot see United being willing to sell Rooney in January, especially if they refused to budge last summer. Added to that, Rooney is happy and playing week in, week out in his favoured position now.
I still believe that if he was to come, Rooney would play the same role as Eidur Gudjohnsen did for Mourinho in his first couple of seasons in charge. Rooney would be the ideal link man and would work fantastically well with our attacking three in behind.
However, the emergence of Fernando Torres could for Jose to rethink any possible moves in January.
What do you people think about these rumours and can you see either player looking to join Jose at Chelsea?
If you ask me, I would have Lewandowski for £7m all day long!
