After scoring twice last night on his return to the side, John Terry has urged the players to stick together as a group and a squad for our important run in to the end of the season. Although it's obvious he wants to play every game, he has backed the current squad rotation. He said:
(Source)There's a lot of young guys who are going to be playing a lot of games every two or three days, so it's important they stay fit and very much up for it, which I'm sure they will,' he said.'With the experience we've got around the squad, the older players can obviously pass that down. We know we've all got a big part to play. Naturally everyone's disappointed if they don't play football matches, we all want to be on the field playing but unfortunately with a big squad that's not always the case.'We've got a very hard run-in, we're away to Liverpool at the weekend, which is always a very tough place to go, but this could maybe give us a bit of momentum, in the league especially.'We've got a lot of games coming up, and with players rotating and the manager changing the side it's important that as a group and a squad we stick together, because there will be opportunities for everyone.'
Now I just wonder what you people think about rotation? For example on Sunday, Chelsea travel to Anfield and take on Liverpool which is a big game in itself but, based on the team selection last night, you would have to imagine that Terry and Lampard will again be dropped to the bench as Rafa Benitez continues to rotate the players.
The thing is, if Rafa can pull off a top four finish and at least get to the Europa League final to try and win it, people will see it as a good thing. If he misses out on a top four finish then people will see it as a disaster and question his methods.
I personally believe that with the big games we have coming up in particular like the Liverpool, United, Tottenham and Everton games, we need our big named, experienced players playing.
What do you people think? Are you happy with the current rotation or do you feel the same as me when it comes to the big games?
