Jose Mourinho is coming back to Chelsea and I am 90% certain of it for next season. After my blog posts and reports/quotes from Mourinho it's almost certain so make sure you check them out if you haven't done so already.
Now thinking about the way Mourinho works, he likes to employ someone connected with the club as part of his backroom staff such as Steve Clarke when he originally took over in 2004. He has repeated this throughout his time managing Inter Milan and Real Madrid afterwards.
So this leads me to think that Jose, knowing how important Frank Lampard has been to the club, knowing how Lampard himself feels about the club and the fact he wants to remain at Chelsea, will offer Frank Lampard the chance of an extended deal at the club but as a player coach.
Now this is something I had been thinking could be possible because lets face it, Frank hasn't looked like panicking about the situation with his contract has he? Frank being as he is has just kept his head down and worked hard and I just wonder if there are plans in place for this to actually happen?
A "Source" close to Lampard told the written press this week:
'Frank’s future at the club is still uncertain, but he has always said he wants to remain at Chelsea. Frank would love Mourinho to return, not only to rekindle the glory days but it could also seal the deal in terms of his own future. He has said he would love to stay on at Chelsea in a coaching role once his playing days come to an end.'(Source)
It's only when Frank Lampard retires from the game that people will study just what he has achieved in the game and his amazing goalscoring record. It's only then people will realise that we will probably not see another goalscoring midfielder ever come close to his record.
It's his knowledge and experience of the game that is vital here and in addition to his connection to the club that will appeal to Mourinho. People say that you cannot buy experience and Lampard has bags and bags of it and why not put that experience to use at the club to coach players?
It's something that I want to see. I want to see the club bring Jose back but to have Lampard as part of his backroom/technical staff would put the icing on the cake for me!
