IS JUST A TOP FOUR FINISH GOOD ENOUGH FOR CHELSEA?

Can YOU believe we are having this conversation literally eight months after we finally became European Champions??

We came into this season with high hopes of really having a crack at ALL the SEVEN trophies we knew we would be fighting for this season and we are left with only THREE and Rafa has ruled us out of the running for one of them - the Premier League and any Online Betting sites would agree!

All we have left to fight for is the FA Cup and Europa League and we would have never imagined that we would be demoted to the Europa League, let alone take part in it back at the beginning of the season!. If you checked out any Live Betting sites at the moment, Chelsea's odds in both competitions wouldn't be favourable!

Rafa Benitez spoke to the media ahead of last night's second leg with Swansea and after the defeat of Arsenal last Sunday and explained that Roman Abramovich was happy with him. He said:

"We have people that talk with him and I have the information. The other day I had time with him and he was really pleased. He was really pleased with the game. He has ideas. I have ideas. We share ideas. We explained to each other what we're trying to do. It's fine.

In a transitional period - we have new players and some of them are at the end of their contracts - I think it's a team that is growing and is improving.

As a manager you have to be satisfied with this. As a manager of a top side you want to win trophies; still we have to try to do better to win trophies. I think the priority for the club is to be in the top four and try to win trophies at the same time. If you talk with the players they say we're going in the right direction." 

Is he right? Is the priority for the club this season just to finish inside the top four and anything additional a bonus? How do you feel about that being Chelsea fans?

I honestly believe that come the end of the season, and if Chelsea manage to finish in the top four, Rafa Benitez will feel as though he has done a good job.

I was always under the impression that Chelsea MUST challenge for all major honours available and put up a fight for the Premier League title?

If Rafa is correct and just a top four finish is deemed as "good enough" by Roman and the Board, isn't that just a sign of how much of a disaster this season has been for us?

It's a record that is a joke really isn't it. Is that a record that Roman and the Chelsea board are prepared to ignore and be happy with a top four finish?
