It seems that Daniel Sturridge is edging closer to a move away from Chelsea and he could literally have weeks remaining at the football club.
Liverpool are likely to pounce next month but Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to do any business until they have lined up a replacement and all news sources point to Theo Walcott as the replacement Chelsea have identified.
The problem is that we all know Arsene Wenger will be reluctant to release Walcott from the remainder of his contract and to upset his plans until the end of the season. As we have seen with Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie, he would rather hold onto the player until the contract expires and then allow the player to leave on a free in the summer.
If Liverpool come knocking for Sturridge, Chelsea will look to turn to Walcott and if reports are to be believed, a bid of £15m would be put on Arsene Wengers desk for a player with just six months left on his deal.
I can't see Wenger looking to budge at all. If anything, even Arsenal fans know how stubborn he can be so why on earth would he look to do business unless he has someone lined up to replace Walcott.
Thinking about the players themselves, what do you ALL think of them and the deals that look like being negotiated in a couple of weeks time.
Can we afford to let Sturridge leave and are we making a mistake? What about Walcott? Would he offer Chelsea a better option than Sturridge? Does this also mean he would come to Chelsea as a striker playing through the middle?
I have always said that I can never understand how Theo Walcott has not featured as Arsenal's main striker through the middle since Van Persie left. He has proven in games he has played there for Arsenal and for England that he can be another "Thierry Henry in the making" so I don't see why Wenger can't see that.
It's my view that if both these deal can be agreed and WILL happen, then Chelsea would be the big winner and in Walcott would have someone that could become one of the best strikers in England.

It would be a massive mistake letting Sturridge go. He's better than Walcott, and wants less wages then him and is the same age. Totally unnessescary to force him out. Once back to fitness he could start for us.
ReplyDeleteI wld prefer the deal to go on, simply bcos Walcott passes the ball & Sturridge hasn't even started imagining how to pass a ball. Its a team sport & a non-team player shld hit the road..
DeleteIf Sturridge doesn't pass how did he get 7 assists last season and already has an assist this season and 3 goalscoring chances set up within 300 minutes of playtime? Such terrible reasoning. Beausajour 'passes', lets go for him for that sole reason.
DeleteOP you're really overrating Walcott.
Thankyou..Sturridge not passing is a myth
Deletesturridge should stay, why sell him and replace him with Walcott. All that sturridge needs is playing time and he could become another Drogba.
