Moving on from last night now, Chelsea have a chance to get back to that winning feeling once more in the Premier League with a game against Stoke at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
After dropping points in two disappointing games over the last five days, and with reports of our players feeling "dejected" after the Juventus result, it will be interesting to see how RDM approaches the game with Wolves in the League Cup to follow next week.
As we all know, Stoke are a good side and very difficult to play against. They are a hard working side with players that work hard for each other and the manager and its once again, no easy three points.
Will and should RDM make changes to the side that has started the last few games or will he go with a similar pattern of selection and look to make wholesale changes for the Wolves game in midweek?
I can't help but think that we need to utilise the attacking talent AND pace we have to call upon for tomorrow. We need to focus on defensive stability but force Stoke onto the back foot and force their midfield backwards by moving the ball forward quickly and with pace.
This is a perfect game to start Victor Moses and bring Juan Mata back into the fold. Ramires isn't a winger is he and I would much rather see attacking players in the wide positions for this one.
For me, bearing in mind the physical presence Stoke have I would select the following formation and starting eleven and would love to get your opinions on this:
Cech, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry(c), Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Hazard, Mata, Moses, Torres.
Lamps could do with a rest with The Arsenal coming up shortly and the same can be said of Ivanovic and Luiz (with the internationals they have played also). Move Ramires inside next to Mikel, Mata through the middle supporting Torres and Hazard and Moses either side.
There is an argument for Sturridge to start if he is fit, but at this stage I would stick with Torres.
What do you people think?
KTBFFH.

Isn't it very annoying? Yesterday wen he subbed rami for Bertrand I broke my beer mug wen I slammed it on d table in anger. He's heading for d sack wit tactics like this.
DeleteThis is sad! Rdm is acting assieve he doesnot know what he is doing with his team selection, does it mean we spent 80 million for nothing! Now its looking assieve he won the champions league with luck,i am not happy at all. Smh
DeleteWe shud revert to our 4-3-3 wingers. With Mikel, Rami and Mata/oscar in d middle. Torres up front flanked by Hazard and sturridge/moses. Also all our attacks shud start from d middle to d wings not wings to middle. That way our wingers will get space to operate
ReplyDeleteDefinately agree with inclusion of cahill as hes better in airwar.. as for RB i also think its time we give chance to azpi, ya i know stoke's very physical team but selecting iva at rb wil not help in counter attacks..and i hope if bertrand starts, it should be at lb...also hope moses starts..and maybe Piazon can make a substitute appearance.. And my biggest hope is that RDM doesnt apply his DEFENSIVE TACTICS...
ReplyDeleteBleed Blue...
For me what RDM is trying will take time but with mikel and Lamps we have no control in the midfield, Essian and Meireles have both been let go with no replacements. Also, RDM plays 4-3-2-1, rather than 4-2-3-1, again we don't have anyone feeding our strikers who's having to drop out of position. Well same team as juve is the best bet we've got, I would play either lamps or mikel and put ramires alongside him with mata taking the position out wide. Cech, brana, luiz, JT, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, oscar, Hazard and Torres.
ReplyDeleteAzpilicueta should play, romeu, moses and sturridge should all be given a chance, oscar should get a start if he shakes of the injury, and id like to see marin, who was outstanding pre-season. Cech, azpilicueta, cahill, terry, cole, romeu, oscar, mata, hazard, moses, sturridge, 433 with just the one holding man, then Oscar can go back and forward, mata attack mid, hazard moses wide and sturridge. Proberbly wont happen
ReplyDeleteEveryone 1 of y'all seemed to have forgotten about a very special german youngster we have named Marin.. Was referred to as the German Messi.. I believe he should really get a start..
ReplyDeleteCech
Azpilicueta. Cahill. Terry. Cole.
Ramires. Mikel
Mata. Hazard. Marin
Sturridge
