So what is your view on Michael Essien and where do you think he fits into RDM plans this season?. Let's be honest, he has featured in pre season but since then has had to make do with a place on the Chelsea bench alongside Oriol Romeu.
It's seems as though Mikel has grabbed the opportunity RDM gave him when he took over and now remains selected week in, week out by RDM. As a result it means that the deeper position in midfield alongside him is now a straight fight between Frank Lampard and Raul Meireles, so where does that leave Essien?
These days knowing you are only allowed to register a 25-man squad including three goalkeepers, managers like to have two players for each position. As I have said Lampard and Meireles look to have one of the deeper positions sorted and Mikel is firmly in place for the other. So right now it looks as though RDM has to choose between Essien and Romeu for cover in that slot.
I guess the problem Essien has is his knee's as he has suffered plenty of injuries and there are doubts as to whether they will hold up or give way again. With Romeu, we haven't got that problem and he has demonstrated last season that he more than suits the role.
So with the transfer window closing on Friday evening and with reports of interest in Essien from Turkey, I just wonder if Chelsea will decide to sell up?
I love Michael Essien and he has been a fantastic servant for the club. When fully fit there is no one else you want in that position but that's the worry now isn't it. Will he ever be fully fit?
What do you think people? What do you want Chelsea to do?
Will Chelsea decide to sell or keep Michael Essien?
KTBFFH!
Although essien has been suffering with injuries for some time now but looking at things, so long as he remains injury-free he is still better than mikel but RDM should just give him some playing time to just see the best out of him.
ReplyDeleteLOOKING AT ESSIEN NOW ALTHOUGH HE IS NOT PLAYING HE IS REGARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST MIDFIELDERS IN THE WORLD AND NO ONE CAN CHANGE THAT FACT. IT ONLY THAT RDM IS BEING UNFAIR TO ESSIEN THATS ALL HE KNOWS ESSIEN IS MUCH MORE BETTER THAN MIKEL BUT YET STILL HE PREFFERS HIM. EVEN TKE A LOOK AT ESSIENS CONTRIBUTIONS AND COMPARE IT TO MIKEL IT IS 100% CLEAR DAT ESSIEN IS BETTER SO I THINK THEY SHOULD RATHER OFF LOAD MIKEL AND KEEP ESSIEN HE IS A CHELSEA LEGEND.
ReplyDeleteI think Essien hasn't been given a fair shot at winning a starting place as one of the holding midfielders. It seems everyone is really high on mikel but I still dont see what everyone else sees. He slows the game down far too much for my liking.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather see the combination of Essien and lamp both of which are much better getting the ball forward to hazard or mata which in turn leads to more scoring chances.
let me ask all those slatng mikel a simple question..if mikel isnt good, why has RDM nt dropd him bt instead d best midfielda Essien has bin droped,..essien used to be gud buh nt anymore..so get off MIkEL's back n appreciate him..instead of essien fiitng a lost couse he shud leave
ReplyDelete@Benson, tanx man, don't mind these guys who are still sleepin in d past. If they give them the club to handle, they will crash in a moment becos of their myopic judgement.
