Victor Moses will finally sign for Chelsea this week in a deal worth around £9m after Wigan's Dave Whelan finally decided to let the player go.
Now for regular readers of my blog, you will know that when it comes to Moses, I am not 100% certain this is a good deal. I mean no disrespect to Moses as a person or a player in any way, I am just thinking that there are other "natural" wide players out there that Chelsea should be going for.
Moses is a striker and has immense ability. He built his reputation at Palace and then moved to Wigan where initially he found it difficult, but under Roberto Martinez's stewardship, he has flourished at playing week in week out, but in a wider role in their side.
I have posted last week after the Brighton disaster, that Chelsea need to find someone who will play down the left or at least start in that position because let's be honest here, we haven't had a natural winger down that side since the days of Arjen Robben and Damian Duff!.
It's interesting to see where RDM wants Moses to be involved this season whether it's down the middle or out wide left.
I am sure in years to come Victor Moses will prove to be a great signing for the club and I personally hope that is the case.
I just can't help but to question this deal. It's seems as though we are just trying to fill a space in the squad.
KTBFFH!
Well I completely disagree with you on this one. I feel 9 million for a 21 year old (many useful yrs ahead) who has played week in&out in EPL, carried the pressure of a Key player of a squad, versatile (both wings & striker),who wouldn't consider a starting role "a right" hence no dressing room unrest,& a relatively very low wage.
ReplyDeleteNow about the width you mentioned, Hulk or other names been linked with us wouldn't give us that, cos just like Robben who's usually deployed as an "inverted winger" more often than not "cuts inside" & have a shot at goal rather than stretch play to the by-line then cross.
So, I believe its a good deal of business!
