Now as you know, Fernando Torres spoke with Guilleme Ballage the Spanish Football expert on SkySports and those comments have caused quite a stir yesterday. In a way, Ballage has dampened our celebrations with the timing of his article but I guess he had no choice due to the content of what Torres said. I would like to put any thoughts you already have about Torres' comments to one side and read what he did say again.
“It was a huge disappointment when I saw the starting line-up, maybe the biggest disappointment of my life. If it wasn’t for the fans many times this season I would have thrown in the towel.(Source)
There have been many ups and downs and many moments where I felt lost and I didn’t know what to do and where to be. I want to thank my family, the club’s owner who have always supported me and backed me and above all the fans. This season I felt things I had never felt. I felt I’ve been treated in a way I was not expecting and not in the way for which the club brought me here.
We have had many conversations and now the season is finished we will have more talks to see what happens in the future because this is not the role for which I came and I’m not happy.
Winning the Champions League makes up for it of course but as far as the future is concerned... well.
Right now I do feel it’s all worth it but the truth is I’ve gone through some very bad moments - the worst moments of my career - during the season and I am not willing to relive those moments.
The ideal for me for next season is if someone tells me what is going to happen. What role will I have in the team? What function will I have and what is expected of me? Then I can evaluate if it is worth it.
Football is like that, many times when you feel at your best that is when people count on you the least.
I felt this was one of my best moments and I was full of great desire and ambition and then I had to start on the bench. In the end I was able to play a bit and help the team.
What I was thinking when I came on was we had to win. What we were lacking was attack. We were wrong to conform with 0-0 and they punished us with Muller’s goal.
What had made this team great and what made us win against Napoli, Benfica and Barcelona was that we defended AND attacked. And we didn’t attack in the final. We only attacked them in the last few minutes and a bit in extra time — if not this game would have been 1-0.
We had a star or an angel or whatever you want to call it that maybe the team didn’t have in Moscow. We had the luck champions have.”
Now, I have to say honestly that I am not surprised with Torres' comments but all this talk about the fact that he wants to quit Chelsea is total bullshit!. Typical bloody press again shitting on our parade once more as they can't stand the fact that Chelsea have won the Champions League.
Did you honestly think Torres would have been happy starting on the bench? Of course not!. Yes he looked like he had the ump with RDM as the penalty takers were being decided but that was because HE WANTED to be involved and to take one. What's wrong with that?.
You have to remember the for the most part when Torres is talking about the bad times this season, it was during AVB's tenure as Manager!. OK, Drogba has been selected ahead of him in the big games but surely Torres can see that Didier has been the main man and with 9 goals in 9 finals, he can't argue. Drogba pulled it out the bag for us again AFTER a corner WON by Torres.
Finally, I can understand that Torres would like to speak to the club about their plans for the future and how he fits into that.
I personally believe that Didier Drogba will decide to leave the club in the biggest high of them all. He has won everything with Chelsea and rather than play on, he will leave us as a legend but also as the person that scored the goal that won us the biggest club trophy of all.
Fernando Torres will hear everything he wants to this summer as he will now become our main man without question. Didier Drogba has won it all and will now pass on the batton to Torres to try and do the same. Just look at how Torres celebrated on Saturday night and yesterday at the parade!.
So forget all this rubbish about Torres you are reading and believe me instead.

ReplyDeletea great aticle, i strongly belive torre is wit us, we have won the penalty dnt mind who played it or not. I even told my fellow fans i prefer torres to mata. Cos mata is not inproving in his p.k. Up blues.
ReplyDeleteNow he is a European champion he should step up and watch and learnt from a legend drogba and emulating or getting close to what he acheived as player and prove his worth end off . Fuck the bullshit and as s fan just enjoy being European champion come u fuckin great chelsea chelsea loving it loving who r we who r we champions of europe

ReplyDeletei don't understand the rationale playing kalou ahead of Torres is it that kalou is more quick, more skillful or marks ball more than Torres?I understand exactly the way he feels.Anyway we won that is the important thing.
