Chelsea 6-1 QPR - Fantastic from Chelsea and Fernando Torres.

I said in my match preview that Chelsea needed to take their chance to close the gap on Newcastle and they did exactly that with a fantastic performance against QPR at the Bridge this afternoon.

Chelsea beat QPR 6-1 in difficult conditions with goals from Danny Sturridge, John Terry, Florent Malouda and a hat trick from Fernando Torres.

The goal we conceded was disappointing but the game was won and we were able to rest players ahead of Wednesday night.

Chelsea started with Bosingwa at centre back next to JT, Ferreira at right back, Essien and Lampard in the middle and Juan Mata pulling all the strings in the midfield next to Sturridge and Kalou behind Torres.

Chelsea were 4-0 up after the half hour with an early strike from Sturridge, a header from JT and two from Torres as he rounded the keeper for the first and capitalised on a defensive error to make it 4-0 from close range.

QPR couldn't live with Chelsea and Juan Mata in particular. The second half they started better but once Mata got on the ball again he opened the door once more for Torres with a ball played in behind and Torres side footed into the bottom corner to make it 5-0.

Florent Malouda came on and wrapped up the Chelsea scoring from close range to make it six before Cisse scored a consolation for QPR.

With the likes of Ramires, Meireles and drogba rested, with Ivanovic back for Wednesday it was a fantastic result. Jose Bosingwa impressed again at centre back and Paulo Ferreira, ever reliable did well too.

It was a solid, professional performance and Chelsea were at their clinical best. Quick passing, plenty of movement, combined with good work rate - it had all the marks of Di Matteo's time in charge!
