AVB - Now it's time to repay the faith Roman has given you!.

I had my rant after the game here which created a bit of a stir (rightly so, and have had some time to think. As a result, I want to focus on the ONLY positive that came out of the defeat at Everton and that was AVB's admission he got it wrong.

Now like I said in my rant, I have been a supporter of AVB from the moment we was announced as our manager right up to the game yesterday, but as we all know, what I witnessed has changed my opinion.

The encouraging for me was a key point in what he said straight after the game which was:

"I think today was one of our worst games of the season, if not the worst.
In our performance today we are short of anything positive. It is a difficult day for us, we take out a lot of negatives from this game.

I take all the responsibility. I will reflect hard on my preparation for the game and the things I did to try to help the team"

Now like I said that's key for me. We often hear AVB's press conferences after games and he always speaks of the team not being good enough or not creating enough and taking enough chances, we never hear him take or admit to the blame. Yesterday we did.

I will be honest, after seeing Chelsea slip down to fifth place ONLY because other results went for us, I had one eye on any news coming from the club today because let's be honest here, Scolari was fired in a similar situation. Chelsea's 12 points out of a possible 30 is woeful and not good enough. So yes, I did have an eye on possible news that our manager has been sacked.

He hasn't been which to me, shows incredible patience and faith in him from Roman Abramovich. AVB needs to begin to repay the faith shown in him starting this week on that training ground.

How does he do that? Here's how:

1. AVB has to call a team meeting, no holes barred and EVERYONE has to air their view on what is going wrong and how they believe things can change to clear the air. It's worked before and CAN work again.

2. In that meeting, certain players need to be told and made accountable for their performances which are NOT good enough.

3. We have a week to prepare for Birmingham and 9 days for Napoli away which now looks like a daunting task. AVB has to work on an alternative way of playing to freshen things up.

4. Players need to be played to their strengths. Is Juan Mata a left winger? No he isn't so don't play him there. Is Danny Sturridge a right winger? No he isn't and has become the most selfish player on the pitch. Play him through the middle next to Torres.

5. Motivate the players. It looks like players don't feel comfortable with the way we are playing and with AVB's philosophy. Ask the players for their opinions on how we should play to gauge their ideas.

6. Pick players on form, if you aren't cutting it you are dropped!. Too many players are playing games when they shouldn't even be on the bench.

7. These players need to realise just who and what they are playing for and THE TEAM is more important that any one individual. Chelsea look like a side of individuals and NOT a team.

8. Find a way to bring creativity to our side. I don't want to hear that this Chelsea team cannot create or struggle with creating chances!. Bring people into the team that can and start by bringing Josh McEachran back. If you are good enough, you are old enough!.

Mr Villas-Boas. Roman Abramovich has shown unbelievable faith in your ability as THE manager to take this club forward. Don't you think it's now time that you start to deliver?
