After reading (and posting) that Gary Cahill is about to sign for Chelsea and is rumoured to have asked for assurances of first team football at Chelsea ahead of Euro 2012, I just wonder what it means for David Luiz.
The more I think about it, the more I can see Luiz being asked to step sideways and play at RB for the remainder of the season to accommodate Cahill in the middle next to JT. Would this be a good move?
For me, I think it would be. We all know Luiz likes to get forward and no one can ever deny his range of passing is fantastic, but what about Jose Bosingwa and for that matter Branislav Ivanovic?, what would happen to them?.
It's common knowledge that Bosingwa isn't the best defender but going forward he is a real threat and links up our play really well at times. It's the fact that he is in the side to defend first that is the issue and that's why I think AVB is looking to re-jig our defensive line.
As for Ivanovic, he is solid at either right back or in the middle but I can't help but think that AVB wants a pacey back four to stop getting caught in behind. Ivanovic is not the quickest and I think his lack of pace does go against him.
Luiz is quick and I honestly believe that AVB will move him sideways and play him at right back for the remainder of the season. Luiz's use of the ball especially going forward come become key to our play and he could be a revelation but how well do you think he could do there?

David Luis could also function well at the defensive midfield position because of his passes, use of the ball and his ability to go forward. Also at the right back too bu i think with Bosingwa, Ferreira and sometime make and shift Ivanovic are thought to be ok at that position. Luis as i thought could also fit into the outside right position because of his ability to go forward even now that Kalou is touted by Arsenal, Luis could be thrown into the midfield.
