After watching Fernando Torres' performance yesterday for Chelsea I thought to myself "He's had a good game today". Then I saw the report of Ex-Liverpool Phil Thompson on Skysports "Soccer Saturday" and couldn't believe what I was reading!. Thompson is quoted soon after the game saying:
"He's not anywhere near. There's a lack of confidence and a lack of pace. Thinking back to the Manchester United game it looked like he was back to dragging the ball by people, but he had a couple of opportunities today and it's just not there I'm afraid. Really poor.
You wonder whether he's the answer or Drogba. He was ahead of Drogba today, who wasn't even on the bench and you're wondering who is going to be the one.
This, to me, was not good enough from a £50million player. Is he going to be staying at Chelsea? I would have to say yes, but he was poor nonetheless."
First of all, Thompson is the most biased sports "pundit" there is in the game and everything is Liverpool this, Liverpool that and the bloke is a joke.
Secondly, because of the whole situation with the transfer of Torres and the fact that he asked to leave his beloved Liverpool, Thompson like their fans, holds a grudge against him and takes every single opportunity to have a pop at our striker whenever he can.
Finally, even with his biased views how on earth can he say Fernando Torres was poor, really poor yesterday? The bloke worked his socks off for the team. OK he never scored but had a hand in both our goals. It was his turn and run at the defence that led to the corner that Ramires scored from and it was his through ball to Ashley Cole in between two defenders that led to Lampard's goal!.
Torres ran his heart out for the club yesterday. He got back and made tackles, he linked up continuously with our midfield and ran at the defenders taking them on whether it was out wide or through the middle. If it wasn't for the defender coming across on the cover, Torres had danced past two defenders and was through on goal before he was tackled just as he was about to pull the trigger!.
I will tell you something, based on just that performance alone from Torres, I would have him in the team starting week in, week out because of one reason and that is that you ALWAYS know what to expect from him. He will continue to make runs to give our midfielders options to pass to, he will continue to come and show for the ball and link up with our midfield and will continue to work hard. Can you honestly say that Drogba will do the same in EVERY game?.
Now Drogba is off to the African Cup of Nations, Torres will get his chance to feature in every game and WILL cement his place back in the side and WILL score goals. I keep saying it, but form is temporary class in permanent and Torres' class will shine through.
If Torres doesn't score in a game but plays like that in a winning team performance, I will be more than happy!
Thompson your a twat!.

ReplyDeleteWhoever you are, i just want to say thanx..thank u so much for the love nd support for Nando....besides his poor form, he's playing like a true fighter nd warrior...he's ready to run for his single breath and 1% chance if present, than he will convert it into winning move, all we need tn do just wait, have patience nd he will deliever for us....
ReplyDeletewait till next year when chelsea win fuck all.. he will want to leave them aswell same as he did at lpool, as far as workrate and helping the midfield pffft! lazy spanish twat... talk bout bias wat bout ray wilkins and redknapp never have a bad word to say bout chelsea
ReplyDeleteA fighter and warrior? That's a bit strong. I'm a Liverpool fan and it's clear Thommo is biased. I only saw match if the day and Torres's pass to Cole was top drawer. I find it interesting you say he shows himself for the ball etc. he didn't do this for Liverpool last season, it was like Ngog was up front on his own, apart from the game against you lot. That's why there is a major element of bitterness, he really wasn't trying, he just seemed to sulk. I don't want Chelsea to be successful obviously because of who I support but the premier league is a better place with an in form Torres. Have a good season anyway.
ReplyDeletelike ur attitude. U r truthful
DeleteWhether torres delivers or not, he is stil our hit and i wil always support him even if everybody in this world is against him. Torres wil surely come good this time around. Thompson, pls, stop publicising our striker so that he wil fully concentrate. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteget of his dick bitches!
ReplyDeletehe just need a bit of confidence in e box. His passes are better than most of our midfielders.
