According to the media, the most drawn out transfer saga of the window so far looks like coming to a close with news that Chelsea and Gary Cahill are now in agreement over the players personal terms.
Alot has been made of this in recent weeks with news that he was demanding around £100k per week which was denied by the player. Chelsea were thought to have only offered half that amount and according to The Telegraph, the player also wanted assurances about his place in the team ahead of Euro 2012 and the signing on fee he would receive.
It now looks like the deal has almost been agreed and Cahill is expected to sign in the next 48 hours!.
Well it's about time isn't it. The has gone on for a few weeks now and even looked at one stage as if the deal was about to collapse. I personally think this is a good signing, Cahill for just £7m and 26 years of age, represents value for money and to think, he will only get better and better at this club.
As for asssurances of a place in the team for him, I just wonder if he HAS been given that and if it would mean that David Luiz will switch to playing right back?
Let's wait to see and confirm the Cahill signing and what the player and AVB says in their press conference when he is unveiled. Will be interesting to hear their plans!

Luiz at right back? Actually would be a good accident. Luiz by nature likes to go forward, he is a better athlete than bosingwa or ivanovich and he will be moved over from the heart of the defence where a mistake more often puts the attacker through on cech. So here's one vote for moving luiz to the rt back position.
ReplyDeleteJT should b d one to sit on d bench, instead of pushing Luis to ryt back, Ivanovic is gud there. Favouritism won't pay 4 chelsea at all, 4get d captain thing. He's d problem of chelsea's defence dis season. AVB act wisely.
