Last night news broke that Chelsea will be willing to listen for offers of around £20m for Fernando Torres in January as long as someone can match his reported £150K per week wages. The story continued that Chelsea had already put the feelers out around Europe amongst the elite to see if anyone wanted to take him. This would mean Chelsea would have to take a £30m hit on the Spaniard who has found it difficult here ever since he arrived.
Now let me state on record that again I think this story is complete rubbish and yet another that is being reported by the press to unsettle Chelsea once again. Let's be honest here the press must be frustrated as hell right now as Chelsea have picked up their form again and have nothing else to write about.
AVB has moaned about the treatment of Chelsea from the media and this story is yet another example. There has been two stories in recent weeks that AVB has strenuously denied with the latter being that he ordered the players to come and celebrate all of our goals with him.
As for Torres, he will come good and I believe he will remain a Chelsea player. He wants to be a Chelsea player and up until his ban was playing really well. The problem he faces is that Didier Drogba has decided that now his future at the club is being questioned, he has upped his game. He is playing well so Torres is on the bench.
I still think however, that Fernando Torres will become superb for Chelsea because of AVB. We have changed our style of play now from last season, there is more passing in between the lines and creating space and the way we have been playing in the last few games has been perfect for Torres if he was on the pitch.
He will get his chance in the side in January as Didier Drogba heads off to the African Nations and with that he will prove to everyone just how good for us he can be as long as he gets the right service.
So sorry people, I think this story is complete rubbish and just another attempt to unsettle Chelsea as we are now on a decent run of results.
The question is if it were true would you take the hit on Torres and sell him for £20m?
Before you answer remember one thing:
Form is temporary, class is permanent. Fernando Torres is world class!
