Frank Lampard makes alot of the headlines in the press last night for two reasons. For coming off of the bench and scoring the winner from the penalty spot last night and also for his comments about being dropped to the bench for the last few games.
Speaking after the game last night and asked of his situation at the moment he said:
"I want to play, simple as that, I'm as fit as I've ever been. I've been in a good run of form and now I've not been playing. I haven't spoken [to Villas-Boas] so I don't know [why], simple as that.
I want to play. If I didn't, there wouldn't be any point turning up, so maybe there's a bit of frustration because of that. I just want to play and I like to play well. I'm always at my best when I'm playing regularly. I know I've got a lot to give. I just want to be on the pitch and let the football do the talking.
I've got 18 months left and I'll be here that long, and I'll keep trying my hardest."
So what do you make of the situation with Lampard being dropped to the bench in recent games?. AVB has said that he will select eleven players that are playing well and people that deserve to play will play.
I think there is an argument with Frank that he has been great in some games and hasn't been anywhere near his best in others and I believe that's why AVB has given him "a rest".
I do understand where Lampard is coming from though. We all know that he is a player that needs games and needs to play regularly. You don't become a 20 goals a season scoring midfielder over the last 5-6 years by not playing and you do have to wonder if we can afford long term this season, to keep leaving him out?
Saying that, just the other week when we had our issues and looked like we were struggling I suggested on here that we had to have a settled side and stick with them to get some form back. AVB has done that more or less and we have won three important games against Newcastle, Valencia and now Manchester City.
So what's your take on Frank Lampard and his current situation. Do you agree with AVB or think he should be playing?

Given current situation of romeu mereiles and Ramires I would prefer to bench him and let him have last 20/30 mins as he seems more effective that way. However he obviously wants 90 mins but I just don't think it's wise. We have begun the transition and it IS now working and lamps, for all his effort, isn't as effective over 90 as he used to be and if we are to have a settled squad we need to stick with or rm r in midfield....even at the sacrifice of essien who lets face it since injuries kicked in ain't the same either. To be Chelsea of the future we need to let keep going on this path. KTBFFH
