Chelsea strikers £175,000 per week swansong?

I love Nico Anelka as I think the bloke is class. I have said it before time and time again on here and posted my tribute to him and his time at Chelsea the other week.

Since then, we obviously heard the news that he handed in a transfer request last week that has been accepted by the club and is now training away from the first team and will not be involved anymore.

We saw reports yesterday that Anelka and AVB had a "massive bust up" which led to his transfer request but I don't buy into that at all. I stick by what I said in the article that I believe he realised he had limited opportunities because of the form of Sturridge and would rather move than not play at all.

So it's with astonishment that I am reading reports that Anelka has agreed a deal with the Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua to sign a two year contract worth a reported £175,000 a week!!.

It makes you wonder doesn't it. First of all the monies involved and what these countries are willing to pay to take established stars of our game to their league and secondly, if we take our stars for granted at all? If someone is willing to pay that much per week to sign them to raise the awareness of their league.

Fair play to him is what I say.
