I posted earlier this week a rant AVB had about the media coverage of Chelsea and quite rightly so. We had previously see him defend Fernando Torres' form in pre season by claiming that they were "turning him into an obsession".
Last week, we heard him defend David Luiz and his position in the Chelsea side again, because of focus from the media.
Yesterday in relation to the Gary Neville comments about David Luiz when Neville said "He plays as if he is being controlled by a 10 year old on a playstation", AVB chose to respond once again and I love it.
Speaking of Neville first, he said:
Ridiculous! I'd say this to his face with most pleasure. You can't speculate and invent things that are going on. Some people can have more or less an idea. But not him. He cannot know. Then AVB was asked of Neville's comments in relation to the harmony in the dressing room. Once again, this riled AVB and he responded:
You cannot approach a top Brazil central defender saying he's commanded by a kid with a PlayStation. That's ridiculous.
He plays for the team with most [world] titles, so be careful with what you're saying
What does he know about the Chelsea dressing room? What does Gary Neville know about our dressing room? Finally AVB decided to speak out about these "pundits" who are ex-players. It's obvious when you watch them speak of their old teams there is a certain element of bias. AVB said:
How can you imagine what is going on in the Chelsea dressing room? How can you know?
Have you been here? Do you know where Cobham [Chelsea's training ground] is? You don't even know how to get here.
I'm normally indifferent, not watching on the telly to see what these people say. But I was watching the television at that moment and I was gobsmacked.
Most of these people we are speaking about have a direct past related to single clubs, which are their favourite clubs, which in the end brings a likely biased position in their opinion-making.(Source)
Comic criticism from top ex-professional players when they take the route to the ridiculous, I think I have a word to say.
When they opt for words as we've been seeing, in the past, I have to be aggressive"
I really am loving this new approach from our manager. Some people wondered if he would be able to cut it taking over our club with little but successful managerial experience.
The main concern people had was whether or not he will be able to handle the big names at our club, how he would be able to deal with confrontation when it happens.
Well, to me he has taken the same approach as Jose Mourinho. Forgive me for referring back to his time when I am speaking of AVB but in this instance it's relevant.
Remember how Mourinho would make comments or create headlines in his press conferences? Here's an example below:
What I am saying is that Mourinho would take the focus away from his players, papers and the media would focus on him and what he says more than the players. Of course we still read rumours and speculation, but there is plenty of focus on the manager.
AVB is doing exactly the same and in recent weeks has created a backs to the wall mentality here. The players must sit and see what he is saying and they respond to him.
We have heard Drogba, Terry and Cech in recent weeks speak out backing the manager and being positive about him and I believe this is a direct response to how AVB has handled the media by taking the focus off of them.
Brilliant from AVB in my view and is no surprise that the team has responded in recent games.
People are writing us off already for Monday night against City but I will tell you this. The players are right behind the manager, they want to play for him and for each other again and that's a massive step forward compared to a few weeks ago.
It's all down to AVB, the man they thought wouldn't be able to handle it. Keep it up AVB, I'm loving it!
