STURRIDGE: NEW DEAL ON THE TABLE?

Reports surfaced over the weekend that Danny Sturridge is soon to be rewarded for his good start to the season at Chelsea with a new contract being offered to him to tie him down to the club for the foreseeable future.

This for me is great news, Sturridge is our future and I have said it before and will say it again, his attitude since he came back to the club has been first class.

Think about it, we have some exciting youngsters coming through in this country and Sturridge is right up there with the best of them in my opinion. He has adapted his game to play out wide and has done really well in some games and OK in others. Once Sturridge can find a consistent balance and keeps his performance levels high from week to week, he will become a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.

It was a shame that he never got any game time for England the other night against Spain but, we have been told that he IS STARTING tomorrow night against Sweden so he has a chance to impress Fabio Capello and the rest of the nation.

Sturridge just needs to keep working hard, keep his head down and his feet on the ground and I am sure we will see him have a great season for us that will force Capello's hand for Euro 2012 to include him in the squad.
